Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I found out about Couchsurfing a few years ago, while I was living in Bulgaria. I had very often guests in Cluj-Napoca, as well as in Sofia and Paris when I was living there, Couchsurfers or not, from all over the world. I have also surfed in Turkey, Cyprus, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro and Ireland, and I have met there amazing people, some of whom I now consider my friends. I really enjoyed meeting every single one of them, sharing our experiences, learning about their cultures, their travels, their projects.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

What I love most about my CouchSurfing experiences is the amount of generosity and trust I have encountered. Thanks for this beautiful idea. "Participate in creating a better world, one couch at a time": it sure participated in opening up my horizons and creating friendship! I just hope this idea will stay at the core of CS, despite the last changes the site (and the organisation) has gone through...

Interessen

I'm interested by many things, but just to name a few, languages and travels more than anything, music (I play the oboe and learn the Bulgarian kaval, the Irish whistle and the guitar), photography, cinema, literature, history... I love to meet new people and find out about different cultures.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Among many other writers, some of those who make me dream, shiver, think back, travel, smile... are Nicolas Bouvier, Stefan Zweig, Steinbeck, Celine, Tchekhov, George , Kerouac, and the less well known but very inspiring François Maspéro.

Music? Some of my favourites are Mitsoura, Jacques Brel, Parno Graszt, Gogol Bordello, Les Ogres de Barback, Dire Straight, the Beatles, Nasekomix, Parov Stelar, Baba Zula, Bulgara, Les Têtes Raides, Django Reinhardt, Hindi Zahra, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Youngblood Brass Band, Ratatat, Saint-Saëns, Rona Hartner...

As to films, I really like Alain Resnais (Mon oncle d'Amérique, Nuit et Brouillard, Les statues meurent aussi), Jean Eustache (La maman et la putain), François Truffaud (Les Quatre Cents Coups, Jules et Jim), David Lynch (Mulholland Drive), Tarkovski (Stalker), Tony Gatlif (Latcho Drom, Gadjo Dilo, Transylvania), and all the Monty Pythons' films that I can watch over and over again and still laugh at every single joke...

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Swimming in the delta of the Danube (in Sfântu Gheorghe), just right there where you don't know if it's still the Danube or already the Black Sea, at sunset on a very hot day...
Randomly meeting friends in the most random places in Europe!

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I'm always keen on learning and sharing: cooking, music, languages (in particular Arabic and Rromani), stories (any tale?)... Anything you'd like to teach.

Flour, eggs, sugar and milk? I'd loved to share with you a "far breton"!

If you play music, I would really like to play or sing along, in particular Irish (and Celtic in general), Balkan, Klezmer music.
