About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy whatever there is to enjoy, experience new things, meet lots of cool people and travel as much as I can. Most of all just have fun, really :-)

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Switzerland. I'm a poor only child who's fighting against the stereotype of being spoiled. After 19 years of being surrounded by mountains, cheese and the world's best chocolate I left my lovely home to become an Au Pair in America. During these two years I traveled to several places in the US and to Jamaica, which was awesome, met lots of great people and learned all kinds of things about the US. I came back to Switzerland in May 2010 and started to study at Bern's teacher's college. After finally graduating in 2015 I took a trip to Australia and New Zealand and am now getting good use out of my degree.

PHILOSOPHY

Why bother being miserable, you're just ruining your own day. Enjoy whatever there is and make the most out of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can show you Berne, Aarberg (a lovely little town where I grew up), take you swimming in the Aare or snowboarding, depending on the season. Definitely eating chocolate!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed all the way down the west coast in the US for a month which was the most amazing experience! Since then, my hosts came to visit me and I met many more incredibly nice people through couchsurfing. And hopefully things will stay that way!

Interests

I love sports like snowboarding, swimming, tae kwon do, bike riding, running, horseback riding and I just started kickboxing and yoga.
I'm also into music and books and I started seeing a lot of movies while I was in the US.
Then I like traveling, eating and making food from where ever and just hanging out doing nothing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Amelie, The Hangover, Pride and Prejudice, Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei

I enjoy all kinds of music. Depending on my mood I like the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Jack Johnson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Switchfoot, the Killers, Seeed, Paramore, the Lumineers and probably a whole lot more that I can´t think of right now.

There are many books I like. Right now, my favorite author is Jeannette Walls. I highly recommend her books! I also really enjoyed the Hunger Games and Harry Potter as well as "A thousand splendid suns" and plenty more fun, entertaining or thoughtful books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best thing I've done in my life so far is skydiving- it was awesome!! It's just incredible and I'd go again at anytime. I went with two of my friends just before the one went back to Finland during our time as Au Pairs.

And, as simple as it sounds, traveling around not having to worry about anything and meeting all those nice, fascinating, interesting and lovely people along the way was just incredible. I think that is amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess I could teach you how to bake bread. And some other good stuff. For anyone who's willing to try: I'll teach you how to pronounce "Chuchichästli". I've recently started knitting a few things and could also teach you some of that. But even as a teacher I have to admit, some of the best lessons in life simply cannot be planned ahead so let's see what this experience ends up teaching all of us.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all, I'll share my living room with you were you are welcome to stay. I can also share food with you, walks through the city and I'll happily share all my knowledge about Bern, Switzerland and the rest of the world. Mostly though I hope we'll share a good time!
