About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'd like to travel and get to know other people in other parts of the world so I can better understand myself and how I fit into the bigger picture...

ABOUT ME

Since retiring from the State of Arkansas in 12/07 I have been enjoying life more than I ever thought possible. But couch surfing could make things even better! I enjoy interacting with people of all ages, races, nationalities, orientation, etc. I'm in the 3rd year of a wonderful relationship with my girlfriend/roommate, Julie. We plan to remain in that relationship for the rest of our lives. It's a good one! Julie got me started reading again and now I'm hooked. Mostly art books but some others too. She can't do any long-distance traveling now because of her job but will be able to later on. I've always had a creative urge which is more manifest now that I have more free time. I've played drums in a band (the Bloodless Cooties) with my son, Jeremy, and our friend, Louisa, for 16 years. I call it "garage rock". I've also played in other bands along the way, but the Cooties are my first love. I also do loop compositions on my computer and have released 2 CD's of this music ("Smell the Love" and "On Fire"). You can hear some of my tunes at myspace.com/jerrycolburn Last but not least, I do visual art---painting, collage and photography...much more since I retired. I've been showing my art for 20+ years, mostly in Arkansas. My art blog/website is at jerrycolburn.blogspot.com I hope you'll check it out. I post 2-3 new pieces daily! I have an archive of several thousand pieces of art. I consider myself spiritual but have no interest in organized religion. I was a member of the spiritual community, Adidam, for a while and will always be influenced by the teachings of Adi Da Samraj. Not into sports very much, no NASCAR...I now have a garden in my back yard (my first in decades). It's great to go get dinner out of your own yard! I am a carnivore, but eat lots of veggies too. I bought a house 5 years ago in Argenta, the Historic District of North Little Rock. I grew up in this neighborhood so it's good to be back. Have lived all my life in the Little Rock area except for a year or so in San Francisco (in the late 60's, early 70's). Lived in Haight-Ashbury and did all the good Hippie stuff. I want to see some of the rest of the world now while I'm healthy and can afford it. I forgot to mention that Fez Marconi was my DJ name back in the 80's. I was a DJ at KABF, a local non-profit radio station for 4 years. Sooooo...Hope to see you on the trail.....
PS- I'm VERY ALLERGIC TO CATS!

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live...Do unto others as I would have others do unto me....Pay attention to what others have to say! Honor the Divine in all beings...
