Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far just hanging. Have been lucky enough to have had some good nights with new people all over Mexico thanks to CS.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To date, the closest thing I've come to CouchSurfing is waking up after what I can only assume was an excellent night, and not being entirely sure why my face is full of a stranger's cushion. Unfortunately, this is not a euphemism. But I am now looking to start hosting with my fabulous spare room in my very own flat.

Interests

My main interest is music. I like listening to it, pretending to play it, and singing it badly. Mostly I listen to female singer-songwriters like Regina Spektor and Amanda Palmer and Marina and the Diamonds. And lots of other stuff too.

I am also a big reader (actually I am kind of snobbish about it, as anyone who sequesters my opinion on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo can attest to). I like to say my favourite author is either Hardy or Hemmingway, but really it's either Pratchett or Atwood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I remember standing on a ledge 150m up, about the size of a tea tray whilst a friend of mine suspended himself over the valley, held on only by his fingernails and my tentative grip on the rope. This was in Wales, so it was chucking it down. And then we got to the top: I wish I could say the clouds lifted, and we could see for miles, but all that happened is we looked at each other, nodded sagely, then tried to figure out a way down that wouldn't kill us.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you would like to learn to climb, but don't want to pay eighty quid for the privelege, I can give you a crash course in belaying, etc, for nowt. If there's two of you even better.
