About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To grow paragliding in Africa by creating more pilots, instructors and small businesses across the continent. To travel and fly in other countries with my aircraft-in-a-backpack

ABOUT ME

I like adventure. I started off with a fear of heights, spent 10 years of my life sluicing in SA and other parts of the world. Now, I'm a paragliding instructor living in Cape Town.

I'm all about the outdoors and sunshine. I love meeting new open minded people.

I believe that happiness is not just a feeling, it's also a choice.

I'm open to new experiences and believe in "don't rate it till you've tried it"

Three words I try to live by: LIVE DON'T EXIST

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice to each other. Life is short.

Also, I try my best not to be a hypocrit. Try everything at least once.

Have fun

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Take CS'ers visiting Cape Town on hikes every so often, have had a couple CS'ers crash at my place, always up for meeting people. I'm a qualified tour guide so can give you informal tours

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'd say the most memorable CS experiences I've had has been the CS socials in Cape Town and the the hikes up Lions Head (local mountain in the city) where I get to show CSers my favourite spot in Cape Town. I've also had a couple people crash at my place.

I've surfed a bit in the States and participated in CS gatherings in Europe

Interests

I've take CSers on the hikes I do in Cape Town.
I've done super cool road trip from San Antonio to California with a rad CSer named Josh Greene
Hanging out with some cool CSers in Chicago, just chilling.
I met a cool dog once, his CS owner let me take him for walks, that was a cool dog

Music, Movies, and Books

Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart, any of Dan Brown's books. Sudan (yes this is the name of the book), Confessions of an Idiot, Benjamin Franklins autobiography, The Truth about Bhuddism, and Conversations With Myself - Nelson Mandela.

Music - I pretty much dig everything - almost - depends on the mood - rock, trans, classical, local, foreign, ....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've cycled from Cape Town to Cairo - highly recommended for the best view of Africa! Humbling and life changing experience. Other highlights include flying my parachute along the north face of the Eiger in Switzerland, base jumps off the Perrine bridge in Twin Falls, and watching the sunrise from the top of Mt Kilimanjaro

Teach, Learn, Share

Have fun now, not one day! Empathy is important.

If in Cape Town, take a couple a beers and hike up Lions Head at sunset - its awesome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hikes, informal guided walks, my couch
