About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Rejoining the human race after months in seclusion writing a thesis!!!
ABOUT ME
I'm an easy-going and open-minded Australian with a range of interests extending from the "high" arts of opera, theatre, literature and art to the "little" joys of life (a nice coffee, a good glass of wine, an interesting shadow on the pavement, a funny-shaped cloud in the sky).
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is that we're all here to make a go of it and lend a helping hand. Leave things the way you found them, but also make a bit of a contribution. Accept people for who they are, but stay true to your principles.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I must admit that I am fairly new to the whole couch surfing world. Living at the moment in Berlin and genuinely want to participate more - in hosting as well as surfing. Very happy to host in Berlin, show you a few sites, have a drink and share dinner with you, should this also be your "thing". Respect for privacy is also important, I understand.
Interests
I like good and open conversation on just about any issue, be it political, cultural or philosophical. Open to hearing other points of view and exchanging experiences. More here to enjoy life than get too bogged down in negativity. But at the same time I'm not a dreamer. There are serious issues to be addressed in the world, maybe couch surfing is a possible way of achieving this - who knows...

Music, Movies, and Books
Prefer thoughtful films to big Hollywood blockbusters, classical and dance music to rock and metal, Classics to the romance novel. But hey, that's just me. Am a phD student in German literature so obviously enjoy talking about literature-related topics, culutral history, art history, theatre projects - whatever, so long as it's nothing along the lines of "so what are you gonna do with your degree in literature, bla bla bla". If I HAVE to name names then I would say my favourite authors are Shakespeare, Goethe, Kleist, Kafka, but really there are far too many...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to Antarctica :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I suppose the biggest piece of practical knowledge I have to offer is that I'm a native speaker of English. I also speak German and French and am trying to learn Italian. As I'm a literature student any kind of exchange on this level would be great. But as a traveller I suppose the most valuable information for me (and potentially for you) are travel tips.
