About Me

CURRENT MISSION

extending my mind by meeting you/ making new freinds...

ABOUT ME

I´m participating for eight years in CS now and thanks to it I have met incredebily generous, open, interessting and trustful people all over the world. In this way I would even say that CS has changed my image of humanity in a very positive way. Although it´s a b-cooperation now and alhough the internet page isn´t anymore what it once was, the experience of meeting people rest fortunately the same. But it has to be noticed that it has become increasingly difficult to find authentic "CS-people" on CS... Unfortunately a lot of guys started using it as a dating webside and that scares other people off... Nowadays it has become even easyer finding cool people on Bewelcome, even though the page is less used. Anyway. I still love CS, I use it whenever I can and it's a part of my life.

Since Nov 2017 I'm writing my PhD in Brussels and Münster (neverthless I moved back to my home town Kiel) about the reception of platonism in the work of G.W. Leibniz. But Philosophy in general is rather a life time task to me than just a study at university. It's a life time commitment and don´t feel like I should do anything else till I´m old and feeble.

PHILOSOPHY

Speaking of the devil: What does philosophy has to do with CS and travelling arround? I think that travelling and meeting new persons is about making experiences. Considering that an "experience" is always the confrontation with something new that is pushing us out of a comfort zone we can conclude that travelling is about extending our minds. By travelling we can we can overcome our common ideas and imaginations. And by making the experience with something new we perceive ourselves in a new way. In hegelian sens, we have a new perception of ourselves by having a perception of something that we're not. (By the way, I wouldn't have thought how german I'm, before I lived in France :'-D)

I'm not searching for the comfort of tourists trips; hell no!! I'm searching for the intensity of travelling and life. And I want to embrace and breathe it to the fullest. Just beeing on the road, hanging out with strangers, hitchhiking etc. can manifest this beauty of life that you can't purchase with money. (And sometimes it can be rough)

Wherever I've seen different cultures, social reality became clearer to me.
Wherever I've exchanged experience with other people I became aware of the momentums that make this clockwork orange move...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing whenever I´m travelling and hosting whenever I can offer a couch

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I travelled three month through the US and Canada and couchsurfed every single day.
It was one of the greatest things I did in my entire life.
In March 2011 I was couchsurfing in Israel for two weeks.
From 2012 till 2016 I was mostly exploring France and I saw quite a lot of it... It's one of the coutrys that I want to know inside out. Now it's Italy. I love speaking italien as much as I love speaking french.

I also hosted a few people in my apartment who were in Kiel for a brief visit. At the moment I can't host cause I just have one room that is not that huge...

Interests

I´m vegan (vegan means that I do not consume or use any animal products such as meat, fish, dairy products like milk or cheese, eggs, honey, leather, silk etc.)

Beyond Philosophie I have I lot of passions. First of all music. I have my roots in punk but for a few years I mostly focus an classical music, learning violin. I also participated as a choir singer in various choirs and even in the opera of Kiel. My favorite pieces in classical music are mostly from the late 19th century. I love Schuberts Lieder, Wagners early operas and pretty anything from Beethoven. But I could also listen Verdi's and Rossini's operas over and over again. While the german tradition is rather heavy and serious, Rossini's and Verdi's music expresses the unencumberedness of the "dolce vita" so well.

But I´m sill listening and playing the music which influenced me so strongly when I was younger. I have a singer songwriter project and would like to play and punk bands again.

When it comes to sport, I would mention soccer first which I watch and play a lot.

But I also like to go arround with my racing bicycle to new places. Travelling on a bike is also a great way of exploring as a bike is slower than a car but faster than a man on his feet. So you have a more profound impression of things when going by bike than with going by car.

Nevertheless there's no doubt that hiking is awesome too. I loved to do some more hiking soon.

I would like to train for triathlon as well, as I'm quite a good runner and swimmer. Making a finish at an iron man would be a nice goal to achieve.

I'm also really interessted in languages and linguistics. I speak German, English, French and Italien fluently and I know how to translate ancient greek and latin. There's a huge list of other languages I want to learn: Spanish (soon), Russian, (ancient) Hebrew, Arabic, Danish and maybe some Mandarin... The list is long but everybody has a whole life to leran new things^^

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Philosophy: I have to read a lot about Leibniz, Plato, Aristoteles and Renaissance Philosophers for my PhD and sometimes it feels I can't read anything else; which is a bummer

I have read the philosophical and musicological works of Theodor W. Adorno for five years and he remains the philosopher who is the most important to me and who had the biggest impact on my thinking.

films. David Lynch, Bela Tarr, Stanley Kubrick, Jim Jarmusch...

Series: Twin Peaks, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, South Park...

Music: Elliott Smith, The tallest man on earth, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash (at times) Bob Dylan... Anti-Flag, Gaslight Anthem, Alkaline Trio... Modern Life is war, Raised Fist, Have Heart
