About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Some sort of nebulus expectation that an ill-defined enlightenment will occur by visiting new locations and cultures

ABOUT ME

I left my job in March 2008 to experience more of the world, starting with China. Since then I've taught and traveled across Asia and am now basing myself in Melbourne

visited 16 states (7.11%)Create your own visited map of The World or Like this? try: Auto Poster

PHILOSOPHY

I think for the most part it comes back to connection and investment in other(s). But I have much to live up to with my own philosophy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I lived in Bangkok, opening my apartment allowed me to connect with interesting people and contribute to making the world more 'community'. And of course I made great connections with people across asia through CS.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In addition to hosting in Bangkok, I've surfed in Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, Iraq, Iran and India. Meeting CSers and surfing has provided some of my favourite memories. I've felt priveleged when hosts have so generously immersed me into their world for those few days...

Interests

1. Music, dancing. I love good live music - almost any talented singer or musican can make for an enjoyable evening.

2. Pysychology, Philosophy, Religion, Culture, Science. Where does one end; the other begin?

3. A conversation that totally steals my time.

4. Few things can surpass a good coffee in a nice cafe with a great read in my hands.

Music, Movies, and Books

Listen: The Cat Empire, Silverchair, U2, Latin beats, Jazz, The 80s

Essential Musical Knowledge: As if it doesn't all begin with The Beatles

Watch: a movie that I'm still thinking about days later. Donnie Darko or 28 Days Later for example.

Read: any adventurous page turner, biography, travel story, current affairs, something unexpected and inspiring.

Book I was sad to finish: Seven Years in Tibet

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 19 and 20 I spent two years traveling Australia with a youth team visiting schools and staying with host families. I laughed and cried, made great friends, met inspirational people and learned a lot about getting along with others. It is one of the most formative experiences of my life. I can hardly think of a better way to have grown into adulthood than this experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

You can DO stuff OR you can HAVE stuff

The glass is half full AND half empty. Why choose one and lose all that perspective?
