About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep exploring new places (and maybe some old ones) but try to be happy where I am, too.

ABOUT ME

I'm a free spirited, independent thinking American with half her heart in South America. After almost a decade living in Ecuador, I moved back to the US four years ago. I recently moved to Houston, TX and am loving exploring the area.

I'm a medical interpreter/translator at a children's hospital and I live with my boyfriend Piero and my two dogs, Teya and Lulu. Since circumstances require that we stay in the US for a few years, we are doing our best to explore as much of it as we can. We love meeting new people and would be happy to hang out or recommend things to do in Houston, though we are by no means experts after 10 months here!

PHILOSOPHY

Positive thoughts attract positive events.

You must take risks to get the things worth having in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to host, but haven't hosted at all since I've been back in the US, mostly because of not living in places people want to travel to. :) I couchsurf whenever I travel; I love meeting different people and getting local's advice on where to go and what to see.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I got to host a ton of awesome people while I was living in Quito. I also got to stay with a few great people on my roadtrip back to MN from CA with my dog and cat. Surfing is totally different from hosting and great in a different way!

Also, most of the friends I have in Houston I met through couchsurfing. I hope to get to host and surf a lot more in the near future!

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I try to find magic in the little things ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm well I could explain the finer points of Spanish or English grammar to you ;) I love to cook and do crafty things...and I guess I have a lot of random knowledge on different topics because I read insatiably. I start a loooot of sentences with, "well, the other day I read that..." - just tell me if it starts to get annoying!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I cook most nights and there's always enough to go around. I work a normal 9-5 schedule M-F, so am only really available evenings and weekends. Piero works 11-8pm Su-Th at the moment so he is around in the mornings for a bit and less in the evenings.

We would be happy to recommend cool things we have seen in Houston but neither of us are from here so there are other hosts that may be more informed/passionate about the area. Since we still have a lot to see, we are happy to join you (and drive if needed!) when possible, and if you want of course.

Dogs are always available and happy to cuddle.
