About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to take 5 one week vacations this year. Couchsurfing has changed quite a bit since its beginning. I can tell you all about the experiences I have had over the years.

ABOUT ME

I really hate being in one place and doing the same thing over and over again. I love to visit new places and put myself into situations where I can meet new people and find the best places to live and visit in this world.

PHILOSOPHY

After working in a variety of fields and coming from a unique childhood I believe in really enjoying the outdoors and staying active. I feel like I am dying when I am in an office and know for me personally that is one day close to dying instead of living. I think people show what their philosophy is by how they live not what they say. I enjoy being reminded of how good we have it here and taking nothing for granted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We, my girlfriend and I, could be up for hosting you for a night or so. We used to host quite a bit when I lived in other places. Could also meet up as well. I know the area well and like meeting new people. This website and group has really gone downhill over the years. For those of us that have been on it a long time, we understand the relationship and the expectations that come with hosting someone or being a host. For example, if you are having someone host you, it is customary to want to give back to the people that are putting you up for free. They are taking time out of their day to hang out with you, give you a warm bed and shower. That is something worth something rather than you going to get a hotel. So think about that and think about what you can give back to people that they might find valuable. Maybe taking them out to dinner, a bottle or two of wine, walk their dog for them, etc.

The biggest thing you can really do is be considerate of people's time. It isn't hard to do, just think about how you would like to be treated and them do even more. If you aren't going to be able to make it, let your hosts know. Again, be considerate. If you are going to be late, let your hosts know. If you are lucky enough to get people that will host you, don't abuse it and try to stay long, don't invite your friends to come over to hang out with you or even meet up at the house without asking the host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have Surfed in Arizona, California and other places and it was great. We, my girlfriend and I, have had many people come here and stay and so far so good. We really like the idea of this and we try to stay involved as much as I can.

Interests

I love mtn.biking, soccer, hiking, tennis, rock climbing, photography, playing with dogs. Mostly anything outdoors. I don't love the cold so much though....I have lost interest in winter sports. I also like to play board games.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music of almost all sorts. I don't want to say what I am not big on in case you love that type. I don't want someone to not look at me because we just don't have the same music in common. I can only read non-fiction books. My mind is creative enough. Bands like Gomez, Radiohead, Turin Brakes. World leader pretend. Movies like cape fear, and fight club. Don't get me started on movies I dislike.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked Half Dome a few times. I've pulled at least 5 people from flipped/rolled cars. I've had my bags stolen in San Jose Costa Rica and escaped one of the worst cities in the world...debateble.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook well. Play soccer and mtn. bike well. I like training dogs. I also do a little bit of photography. I would like to learn more about....well many things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share details of the area here that we live in as well as many other experiences with Couchsurfing. Couchsurfing has gotten ruined over the years by the wrong people attempting to participate. They don't understand the culture and what is expected. Some people shouldn't be hosting either. I can share with you some crazy stories there as well.
