Hi, my name is Jack and I am a geek.

I define a geek as someone who has a few interests in life that they spend a lot of time doing and derive great joy from. Knowing my interests would therefore put someone far along the road of knowing me.

I enjoy:
- Electronics
I always liked to take the VCR apart as a kid. While I still can't fit the danged thing back together again, I enjoy designing and building various electronic toys and gadgets. They make great presents, and the skill sometimes comes in handy.

-Traveling
I love to backpack through foreign countries (especially China and Taiwan). Hitting the traditional sights is fun, but what I enjoy most is meeting complete strangers through The Couchsurfing Project and getting a glimpse of how locals spend their free time.

- Chinese
What started as a whim during Freshman year almost became a second major. My favorite way of practicing isn't taking a class; I'd much rather meet native-speakers for coffee and casual conversation. When I was studying in Beijing a few summers ago I posted flyers all over the area for people looking for a language partner: there were some weekends where I'd be meeting and hanging out with new people all day.

Interests

Designing and building electronics, studying Chinese, trying to speak aforementioned Chinese and resolving to study harder, reading nonfiction, meticulously organizing everything in my life, and sleeping whenever I can fit it in.
