ABOUT ME

I finished my PhD in archaeology, museum studies and Egyptology not so long ago - so that's Dr Tully to you (titles, what nonesense)! I love to travel and meet new people and spent 6 months living in Cairo during my PhD studies and just got back from 3 month's post-doc research in Luxor. At the moment I'm based in Cambridge which is one of England's most beautiful cities. It's great here but I'm always looking for the next adventure!

I've only surfed once, but hosted quite a few people. I love CS and can't understand why so many of my friends think I'm crazy for doing it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has taught me to be prepared for anything - usually good things, but often totally unpredictable!

Every second in Egypt - especially crossing the road in Cairo, making bread in mudbrick houses in Luxor and going inside Dashur pyramid.

Opening and eating sea urchins given to me directly from the sea by some Sicilian fishermen. Spikey and delicious - the urchins, not the fishermen!

Don't forget to be warm and generous in your own country as well as when you are abroad. Somehow it is often easier to feel sympathy for people (especially beggers etc) in other lands and take their plight more seriously that at home. Change the world on your doorstep first.
