About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To spend one year on each continent, learning everything I can from the local cultures all around the world.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel, although isn't that kind of standard on this website?! I like to find new adventures in life, and I always enjoy meeting new people along the way. I've been all over the place a lot lately. I decided on a new goal, 12 months on each continent. It's going to take me a while, but I think that spending a long amount of time in a place gives you a much better perspective of it's culture. So, look for me where ever I may be. I have met so many people around the world, and this site has been a catalyst for that as well. I'm guessing most people on here do not take an issue with it, but I will put it out there that I am gay. If there are issues with that, please don't hesitate to decline my request. I certainly won't judge, and I hope that you won't either.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is obviously the standard, "You only get one life to live, so live it!" Pretty cliche, especially for this site, but it's true. I spent 4 years in a dead end mortgage job hating every second of it. Then they laid me off and I started my global journey. I haven't looked back, and I love every second of it. I made it to all 7 continents within a year and a half, and have had the most amazing experiences one can have in life. People often tell me that they are jealous of my lifestyle, but I don't understand why. If you are serious about living this way, it is 100% possible, you just have to figure out how to make it happen. No one is going to do that for you! And I've been able to do it without using a trust fund or anything like that, it's all been of my own doing, so it's not like you need an unlimited bank roll!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few people in the past, although it's been a bit more difficult as I've started traveling. I have also been hosted by several people, all of whom have been absolutely amazing. As I've started spending a lot more time overseas, Couchsurfing has become an amazing way to make friends where ever you're at! I'm looking forward to using the system more in the near future, and I hope that the experiences continue to be great!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've crashed on Friends' couches several times. For instance, I spent two months on the Road traveling the Western Part of the US to celebrate my graduation. I primarily stayed with people I already knew, although there were a few nights in out of the way places (yes you, Tonapah Nevada!) where I had to use hotels. Maybe I should plan another one of those using this website this time!

Interests

Well, my past, current, and future addiction is travel. The experiences that you have while in a new places are almost always great, and I love the people that you meet along the way. I also like Snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, having a few beers, and just hanging out with friends.

Books, I like anything by Dan Brown and David Sedaris, the classics like Hemingway, Kerouac, and Ayn Rand.

I've driven the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to San Francisco. Seeing the amazing scenery with two of my very close friends; Watched the sunrise over Tikal in the Guatemalan jungle; hiked the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu; celebrated New Years in a 60 person hot tub at the South Pole.
