ABOUT ME

[es]Lo más peligroso en la vida es nacer y lo más seguro morir. Basta de excusas y a vivir![en]Birth is the most dangerous thing in life and death the surest. Give no excuses and live!

I travel with as little as possible, in every sense except in being a listener and an observer. In these two regards, I am all giving. I listen to people even if I don´t understand their language, I observe lovely events like an afternoon or a sunrise, and not so pleasant ones like injustice and poverty, but I observe. I listen to incredible stories full of love and passion, and I listen to narrow-minded and hateful comments too. But above all, whether it is a storm or the signing of a bird, above all, it is an amazing human being I am listening to.

PHILOSOPHY

To be happy you only need the most basic things... the rest is a matter of attitude.

Poetry is to be read out loud, is not about the words or their meaning, is about how it sounds. Here one of my favorites:

"In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.

I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter - bitter," he answered;
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart." The Heart by Stephen Crane.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have always been the kind of guy who likes to cook for friends and have them over anytime, as well as their friends, the friends of their friends and so on all the way; so I guess I have been a CSer all my life.I also spread the word about CS among the people I meet on the way and to my friends back in Costa Rica. For some reason, sometimes I end up being the host of my hosts and their guests; which is a very nice thing indeed :)

Interests

Photography, music and art in general. I am enjoying writing a lot lately.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jazz, rock, metal, blues and classical music among many others!
I haven't seen many movies in fact. Its hard for me to be in front of a tv for 2 hours!!

So far my favorite book is: "Pedro Paramo" by Juan Rulfo but I also enjoy all works on magical surrealism. And then the classics and a few others I have run into. I think any reading is worth reading at least once.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everything, every day! My motto is "Life is Beautiful"

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to cook some Costa Rican dishes (and some mine too, but you take the risk:P)
I am really happy to share the few things I have learned so far about traveling (and life that is almost the same for me right now). I can give you tips about hitch-hiking, about not planning, and how to use a bottle like a one-note flute.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nicaragua, Panama, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey
