About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live, experience, laugh

ABOUT ME

As a child growing up in a very small village in the North of Italy, I have always been in close contact with nature: I would spend my days playing volleyball in the main square, exploring the hills and the woods with my friends or snorkelling in our crystalline waters. I was just 8 years old when I finally convinced my parents to let me take horse-riding classes, and since then my passion for horses never weakened: not only I practised this sport at a competitive level – Show Jumping, Dressage, Cross Country –, but I also took part in several horse-trekking excursions in Italy, Spain ,Malta, not to mention the ones in the Chilean Patagonia.
A compulsion for international travels was instilled in me since I was very young: I was just 8 years old when my family and I first crossed the Italian borders to visit Paris and London. In me, wanderlust have always gone coupled with a strong fascination for beauty: this is the reason why in high school I decided to take up Liberal Arts studies, which included Art History, Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as Philosophy and Literature. The same reason brought me to choose to go to college in Pisa, Tuscany, because I felt there I could combine my love for nature and art, as well as my keen interest – or better a natural instinct, since I am Italian - in fine wine and food.
The same goes for Spain, where I studied and worked for over two years, having the opportunity to "live" Spanish culture and to achieve a native fluency in Spanish.
After obtaining my Bachelor Degree in European Literature, my curiosity and hunger to take new challenges led me to fly to Santiago de Chile for an internship at the Office for Education of the Italian Embassy, to which followed several experiences as an Italian Language Instructor, as well as a translator and interpreter. Those experiences provided me with the necessary means for a 4-month backpacking adventure through Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego and Brazil.
Once I returned home, I tried to find a way to keep on travelling without leaving home. That is the reason why I agreed with my family to open the doors of our house to host couchsurfers from all over the world. It has been four wonderful years in which the enthusiasm for hosting travellers in the well-known Italian hospitality has never weakened. My parents and I were (are!) truly convinced that showing them around, telling them the history of our places and sharing with them the secrets of the Italian cooking is a great added value for our guest’s experience and a real and enriching pleasure for us.
After this amazing Couchsurfing experience at my parents' place, I moved to The Netherlands with my boyfriend. We just got ourselves a little place to call home, and we will definitely open our doors once the place is ready for guests! :-)

PHILOSOPHY

ENGLISH BELOW

Não sou nada.
Nunca serei nada.
Não posso querer ser nada.
À parte isso,
tenho em mim todos os sonhos do mundo.

I am nothing.
I will never be anything.
I could not want to be something.
Apart from that,
I have in me all the dreams of the world.

Fernando Pessoa

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started using Cs as a guest during my long backpacking trip through South America. Once I returned home, at my parents' place, we started hosting too: so far I have hosted people from Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Australia and Hawaii.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Each single experience in Cs was unique: different people, different ways of living, different ways of taking part in Couchsurfing too. Everyone of them taught me something.
