ABOUT ME

we are Masha and Rachel. one of us was born in the USSR and the other in California. we lived without each other for a while and then we met in the mountains of So.Oregon. so then naturally we started travelling together, and now live in Berlin.

we like people who believe in something. believe in humanity. and in being good. and present. those who don't take things for granted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

well.... we've grown veggies and other living things in Oregon, Wash State, Wash DC, Calif, Russia, Mexico. one of us does body work and massage therapy. we've built things (a house and a pottery studio out of cob, a grill out of beach rocks, garden beds, compost bins, etc.) one of us can fix bikes and cars.

we cook vegetarian food (and very good food at that!). we laugh and tell stories (and we have many!). sing songs. read poetry. one of us has managed a rock band for a while. we've played in the waves. ridden quads. bikes. driven an RV all the way to Mexico. lived in tents, sometimes in below zero temperatures. worked with scissors. promoted festivals and gigs. volunteered at festivals. partied at festivals. danced in the desert. oh-the-desert. sorta 've left our hearts there. collected sticks in the mojave desert. climbed trees. helped. listened. learned. moved on. moved in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Beautiful house built out of mud - check. Car engine expired - check. Lived through the collapse of the USSR - check. Protests in Seattle, Canada, Wash DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Copenhagen, Madrid - check. City built out of dreams in the desert - 5 times between the two of us - check.

Hmmm... how can you really define the learning and teaching. It's much more subtle. Sometimes an unfinished sentence can teach you more than four years of college...
