About Me

CURRENT MISSION

caminante no hay camino, se hace camino al andar..

ABOUT ME

Through the demands of medical school and Pediatric residency I have tried to make opportunities to travel and learn. It has enriched my education and allowed me to be balanced and stay energized. I love learning about other cultures and sharing my own. I cherish the friends that I have made around the world. I love meeting new people who are curious, kind, and have a deep appreciation for the joys of life.
I speak Spanish and English. I was born and grew up in the US but my father is from South America so I spent my childhood traveling to Latin America and now I continue to spend more time there on my own as an adult.
My husband and I continue to have hectic lives (the schooling never ends!) but making time to meet a new friend is always fun.

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attend local events when I can to meet people in my area. I enjoy trying new things in my area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted friends and acquaintances from Washington DC, Spain, Guatemala, and Holland. Some from CS, some not, so i am used to being flexible and open to different cultures and new experiences.
I've also met-up with people through CS while on various travels through South America and Europe.

Interests

I love music! one of my favorite things is exchanging music with people (pop, folk, funk, rock en espanol, electronic, brazilian, anything and everything.) I currently play Sufi-style music with some Indian graduate students in my area which is really lovely. I love collecting new music and sharing my own.

Music, Movies, and Books

i like independent, classic, and foreign films mostly; but i'll go to anything that looks interesting.
I love all kinds of music and i go through phases so count on me to try something new or be riding on a groove of the moment..
I like classic novels, poetry, and i like to read in spanish. I like classic latin american writers but i am trying to branch out into more contemporary stuff..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing Southern Right whales up close from a small boat off the coast of Patagonia Argentina. Truly an amazing experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been fortunate enough in my life to travel and be involved in some global health projects. Justice, health equity, and public health are my passions and i like to exchange experiences. I'm a resident doctor in Pediatrics and i am very passionate about advocacy and children's health.
I also play percussion and I would love to jam with you if you like that kind of thing as well (i've got a bunch of percussion instruments to share)
