ABOUT ME

I was born in the countryside, surrounded by cows and chickens and the green mountains of São José. At an early age I moved to Rio de Janeiro and managed to navigate in the beauty and caos of a big city. As an eternal apprentice, I´m still uncovering the treasures of the place I chose to live.

To outsiders, I may appear to project an aura of "definiteness", of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive, is actually of a very specific rather than a general nature; its source lies in the specialized knowledge systems that I started building at an early age. When it comes to my areas of expertise I will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not I can help you, and if so, how. I know what I know, and perhaps still more importantly, I know what I don't know.

I´m kind of perfectionists, with a seemingly endless capacity for improving upon anything that takes my interest.

While I´m capable of caring deeply for others (usually a select few), and I´m willing to spend a great deal of time and effort on a relationship, I do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, I tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation (which most types consider half the fun).

PHILOSOPHY

I like to travel and to put myself in circumstances that demand new approaches. I'm curious about life and to travel gives me the opportunity to satisfy this curiosity.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I run wikirio.com.br, a non-profit website dedicated to spread free useful information about Rio de Janeiro. It uses the same engine present on wikipedia, wich means that WikiRio is written collaboratively by anonymous Internet volunteers.

WikiRio differs from paper-based reference sources and other websites because information is continually being created and updated, with articles appearing within minutes, rather than months or years. As the article becomes older, it grows and get more comprehensive and balanced.

I hope that my effort on this project benefit not only Couchsurfers, but many people around the world. Indeed it is already been used over one-hundred diferent countries!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I travel I use to stay at hostels because it's easier to make new friends compared to a boring lonely hotel room. Couchsurfing is a great alternative too!

I use to visit some weird places (like places tourist must avoid) and, fortunatelly, nothing bad never happened to me. I know it may be dangerous but the truth is that I'm very curious and I can't help it. I need to go to the very spot and see it with my own eyes.

When I travel to a destiny that I know nothing about, I go to the nearest souvenir shop and take a look at the postcards. You cannot imagine how much information you can get with this simple trick.
