About Me

CURRENT MISSION

One life. Live it.

ABOUT ME

We are Miguel and Amanda. We love travelling, although we can't do it as much as we would like...

**Just to clarify, we are NOT a couple. Well, we are a couple since we are two individuals together, but we're not together in a romantic relationship. That's probably because we both like the same kind of men.

We live in Edinburgh since October 2010. We came here after finishing our Psychology studies in order to stay in this wonderful city, where we have been working, studying and living in general.

PHILOSOPHY

'One life. Live it.'
We saw those words in a motorcycle somewhere in the middle of Scotland and thought that summarize quite well our life philosophy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We can't host at the moment :(

Also, we love meeting people and be hosted by couch surfers when possible while we travel, as we think is the best way of getting to know new places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our first experiences surfing were in the south of France, back in January 2010 when we went to an Amanda Palmer gig. Since then we tried to couchsurf in all our trips throughout England and Europe, mostly when we did an Interrail trip in Eastern Europe.

Also, in the 3+ years that we lived together, we hosted travellers as much as our busy schedules allowed us. Now Amanda is currently travelling and Miguel shares a flat with people not that keen on the whole Couchsurfing idea :(

Interests

We like music, almost all kinds. We love going to gigs and travelling. So, anytime we have the chance, we do both things at the same time.
But travelling without music involved is also really interesting :P

In our spare time, we used to make little felt broochs to earn some extra money.
Other hobbies are reading, walking, partying... just the usual.

Music, Movies, and Books

In music we had a wide taste, being able to enjoy things as different between them as can be Muse, Emilie Autumn, The Dresden Dolls/Amanda Palmer, Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows, Dir en grey, Patrick Wolf, classical music, videogames/movies soundtracks, Björk, Metallica or Lady Gaga. Every style has something interesting to offer, except for reggeton (sp?).

**Miguel's last.fm profile: http://www.last.fm/user/spike86 <-- Updated as of today, whenever you look at it. I'm kind of addicted to see my charts and how my taste changes through time. Latest discovery I can't take off my mind: Bitter Ruin

**Amanda's last.fm profile: http://www.last.fm/user/dinimas <-- Not so updated. A bit abandoned in fact.

For a while, Kylie Minogue decided to be omnipresent at any time in our flat, appearing in every single playlist and being played even when iTunes is on shuffle mode and having more than 13000 songs to chose from.

Talking about books and movies, our favorites are the fantastic and horror ones, like The Lord of the Rings, Tim Burton, Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Poe... That kind of thing.

Regarding TV shows, recently we were hooked with True Blood, Doctor Who and Torchwood, loving other old shows as X-Files, Lost, Buffy, Xena!! (Miguel's childhood...) and geekery of all sorts in general.

Still wanting to see Battlestar Galactica, The Legend of the Seeker and Spartacus, but never find the moment to start with them... [Update: Miguel watched BSG and thinks it was totally amazing]

Miguel really loves 'Amèlie' and 'Moulin Rouge', and Amanda's favourite movies are the Harry Potter series (ones better than the others...). But if we think about it, we could have said that the other way around, we are kind of interchangeable sometimes...

Oh, and we forgot to mention the studio Ghibli! *_*

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm... So hard to choose. We'll get back on this one later ;)

I'm back (Amanda) and I would highlight:
- seeing a black bear at Yellowstone national park when looking for a shoe that was previously stolen by a coyote the night before.
- Angels landing hike... best hike ever! I will always remember that view...

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe we don't have so much to offer but our conversation. We like to talk hours about everything and anything.
