About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to always be adventuring

ABOUT ME

Right after college at the start of 2014 I bought a one-way ticket to Tunisia and fell in love with the place. I stayed for a year and I'm now based in London where I work as a reporter... after that, college in Scotland and a childhood as a diplomat kid living in 4 countries, I still have the travel bug.

I'm originally from the Washington DC area - my heart is in the US but my feet can't stay put, so I'll probably be living abroad for the foreseeable future. I love meeting interesting and passionate people, learning new things, being active. I grew up in Guinea, Russia, France and America and have spent the last couple of years bouncing between North Africa and the UK... would love to share stories and talk travel with you!

PHILOSOPHY

If, when I become and old lady, I write a book about my life.... would anyone want to read it? well I'm hoping that someone would, which is why I want to make every moment of my life a story, a memory, an adventure...

I'm inspired by a slew of different quotes, these being just a few of many

€"We should come home from adventures, and perils, and discoveries every day with new experience and character"€ - Henry David Thoreau

"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy"€ - Benjamin Franklin

"Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." - Hellen Keller

"The secret to my piano playing is that I always make sure the lid over the keyboard is open before I start to play" - Artur Schnabel

"May the Force be with you"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked from Scotland to Morocco in spring of my first year of college for charity... 1,900 miles, 23 lifts, 8 days on the road and met some CRAZY amazing people...

Hmm... I was in the same room as Boris Yeltsin when I was 5 years old in Ekaterinburg, Russia... I experienced an earthquake in New Zealand while having curry at the Chilean ambassador's house which was pretty exciting. Fell in love with the country of Tunisia, and covered its first democratic elections ever while living there as a journalist which was incredibly inspiring.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you my beginner Arabic phrases! I can show you around Tunis, Edinburgh, London, Washington DC, Paris, Wellington NZ, and Northern Michigan. I can teach you how to reenact entire movies scenes... and how to cook AMAZING instant noodles. I can teach you all about rugby positions and playing. I can also share cool facts about medieval European history because I am a massive history nerd.

I want to learn other languages - particularly swearing and words relating to drinking alcohol.
