ABOUT ME

I got fed up with Vancouver (yeah most people think I am crazy) and I dragged my then fiancee (now husband) to England (where he originates from). Two years later, we decided to return to Vancouver and here we are now. We got married on July 20th, 2012 in Greece and are now beginning our new adventure. Who knows where it will lead!

I love music, I love dancing, I love love and I love life. I am very very outgoing, usually always happy, hate seeing people upset, try to live my life to the fullest. I am also the best bargain shopper....and I like to click my heels

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosting a girl who got to experience the typical Vancouver weather, moose watching over me in Munich, an Irish loving Italian in Padova, a girl unable to host me skipping out on a class trip to show me the city of Padova, a fellow Greek finally capturing my heel clicking pose after twenty tries in Thessaloniki, Tons of Athenians + rakomelo in Athens including the kindest brother and sister duo, an exhaustive 2 day tour of everything and anything in Rome, big "thank you" feast and dancing in Nice, 11 surfers under one roof with one crazy host in Florence, grandma's famous Gnocchi recipe and World Cup Action in Padova, a Swiss adventurer camping in my backyard, welcoming a German couple to Canada, 3 Americans enjoying the freedom of canada and taking advantage of the cuban cigars in my home during wonderful conversations, 12 egg omelets and laernign how to take care of a cast iron skillet in seattle, traditional egyptian meals in san francisco, homemade cheesecake in san francisco, "cousins" in san diego, 105gigs of music in Flagstaff, chino bandito's in pheonix, amazing photos in memphis, too much partying in miami, "aunties" in melbourne, frisbees in boston, small world in toronto, wooden rollercoasters and stuffed penguins and 21st birthdays in new york, boat rides and beaches in crete, last minute help in athens. ....what's (or should I say who's) next...?

Interests

MUSIC!!! I love music, but who doesn't. I really like classical, jazz, chamber music, world/folk music (klezmer, bouzouki, kritika, etc) and most music that people my age hate. I love the Kronos Quartet and I also love classic rock. The doors, zeppelin, rolling stones, frank zappa, bob dylan, neil young, and all those dudes. and I have to admit, I enjoy some top 40 stuff like Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am and a lot of stuff on BBC RADIO 1 because I like to dance up a storm and this music allows me to do that (not that the other stuff doesn't)....Other interests include learning languages, culture, dancing, reading, writing, the arts, opera and musicals, road trips, bike riding, camping, the outdoors, collecting records (aka vinyl), photography, heel clicking and obviously traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

too much! see above...also for books. I have enjoyed Kurt Vonnegut, Nick Hornby among other authors. I don't have enough time to read nowadays but we got kindles as a wedding present from a friend and am finding time to use mine!
Music: I have learned to enjoy most genres of music..here are a few of my favorite artists..(in no specific order):
the doors, yann tiersen, sigur ros, bjork, the beatles, music a.m, cooper temple clause, saves the day, david bowie, feist, kronos quartet, kaiser chiefs, minus the bear, radiohead, U2, bob dylan, yes, garaj mahal, fleetwood mac, frank zappa, jimi hendrix, modest mouse, neutral milk hotel, neil young, tom petty, placebo, pink floyd, rufus wainwright, the police, ugly casanova, buddy holly, led zeppelin, van morrison, tori amos, the smiths, buddy holly, rolling stones, the klezmatics, queen, dalaras, mikis theodorakis, papakonstantinou, jethro tull, supertramp, dire straits, 50s, 60s and 70s rock and roll, brit pop/rock, klezmer music, string quartets, greek and other world music (gamelan, klezmer etc), jazz, blues, classical and tooooooons more
Movies: I enjoy lots of different movies but I really like indie and foreign movies. My favorites include (in no particular order): Amelie, American Beauty, Ghost World, Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, Goodbye Lenin, Life is Beautiful, Dancer in the Dark, Bridget Jones, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, High Fidelity, Stand by Me and tons of others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Eurotrip 2006 (a brief list): floating down the vltava river in Cesky Krumlov, hiking the samaria gorge, playing with the iraklio string orchestra, climbing up and down cathedrals and really high buildings to capture panorama shots of the cities, climbing up the sagrada familia, the yann tiersen and kronos quartet concerts, all the mimes on las ramblas in barcelona, the festival on barcelona beach where we almost got attacked by explosives, sleeping on barcelona beach and being sick after 2 bottles of wine, world cup on big screens with locals, italians cooking us dinner and singing kareoke, dancing on the bar in nice, the beach in Corfu, the beaches in Crete, running into people i met in other countrie 2 weeks after i met them, learning to cook lots of food, the loooooong boat rides (22 hours, 15 hours :S ), the baltic sea, eating fish after 8 years, The magnificanet GIANT statue of David, the neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria, all the scenery from the train rides, the riot over the local football team in Thessaloniki, the architecture and how it differed in each place I went, all the sights in Rome, the surfers at the English Garden in Munich, the restaurant with over 25 different veggie burgers in Berlin, how Berlin has changed since the last time I was there, the New Berlin tour with the excellent (not to mention good looking) tour guide, couchsurfers couchsurfers couchsurfers, getting conned by gypsyes in Berlin, our amazing hostel in Krakow, Aushwitz concentration camp, how cold it was by the baltic sea, Wieliczka Salt Mines, the bone church in Kutna Hora (Czech Republic), the crazy drivers in Greece and Italy (so crazy that the only think I was scared of in those countries was crossing the street), gelato in Italy, the amazing Il Palio bareback horserace in Siena and how the locals are so into it, holding up the leaning tower of Pisa, how much Salzburg loves Mozart, the trick fountains in Salzburg, shisha pipes, the La vita Bella walking tour of Arezzo, the amazing food everywhere we went, all the boys paying for us everytime we go out in Crete and them finding it rude if we pay, the earthquake in Crete and me thinking that someone slammed the door really hard and the whole house shook, my first couchsurfing meeting in Athens, swimming in the Lybian Sea and the Meditteranean Sea and the Sea of Crete, all the burstyn (amber) in Poland, all the fish displays, 2 big fat greek weddings, life in a greek village and how different it is from like in Vancouver, heel clicking, all the shoes i bought!, drinking chocolate in Warsaw, sudoku passing the time, did I mention all the food?,the contrasts of weather, gladiators in Rome, all the history!, all the fountains in Rome, all the different cheeses!, all the bread I ate (and it shows!), eating so much tuna (because it didnt require refrigeration and was cheap) that even the thought of it makes me sick, hand painted eggs in Salzbyrg, climbing lycabbetus hill in Athens to see Yann Tiersen, meeting Yann Tiersen, being so hot in crete that I couldn't even sit and tan because I was dripping with sweat and had to be in the water the whole time, dancing on the streets, all the street musicians, all the fire dancers, conducting the Hofbrauhaus orchestra, all the beer at the hofbrauhaus, and all the beer gardens in Munich, how expensive munich was compared to Berlin, how cheap Poland and The Czech Republic were, horseback riding in cesky krumlov..until the accident, travelling on my own, being able to tolerate hard alcohol, all the museums and galleries, all the bikes in Munich (but apparently theres tons more in Amsterdam), the huge feast we cooked for our hosts in Nice, adjusting to the language each time we changed countries, all the masks in Venice, getting lost in Venice, parking spots for your dogs in Munich, all the stray dogs and cats in Greece, trying to recruit people to share a gondola with us in Venice, all the beautiful sunsets, sharing travel stories and advice with other backpackers, all the views from the train rides, all the trains!, meeting up with Mark who was in my German class...IN GERMANY!, all the picnics I went on, all the grocery shopping trips, the transit system of Berlin and how many U-Bahn and S-bahn lines they have, seeing everything I learned and saw in Mr. Nixon's slides in Comparitive Civilizations in high school up close, seeing lots that I learned in Music History up close, vodka in poland, raki in greece, sangria in Spain, wine in France, one litre beer in Munich, wine and spritzers in Italy, cheap beer in czech republic, did I mention couchsurfers?!

US trip (and Greece)- Summer 2007- Seattle pigs, pike place market, experience music project, the fremont troll and lenin statue, 25 hour trains ride to san francisco, wearing flowers in my hair in haight ashbury, alcatraz, bike riding over the golden gate bridge, the mission district, haight ashbury, fisherman's warf, musee mechanik, boudin bakery, pier 39, bubba gump, mrs. doubtfire's house, and everything san francisco had to offer, santa monica pier, venice beach, universal studios, hollywood, didi reise ice cream cookies, in n out burger, san diego zoo, sea world, viva las vegas, cirque du soleil LOVE, underage gambling, disgusting las vegas heat, grand canyon, flagstaff arizona, route 66, cacti in pheonix, chino banditos takee outee, graceland, piggly wiggly grocery store, blues in memphis, beale street, gibson guitar factory, rock and soul museum, too much alcohol in miami to remember anything except the 4th of july traffic and horrible hangover, melbourne florida with my two couchsurfing "aunts", washington dc and all its monumetns and memorials, boston harpoon brewery tour, salem witch trials, comparing toronto with vancouver, niagara falls, new york new york, broadway, 21st birthday celebration, dancing ont he piano at FAO schwartz, central park, the cool apple store, greenwich village, coney island and the rollercoaster, beautiful santorini, hiking the samarian gorge...again, beaches beaches beaches, tans tans tans, burying perry in the sand, lots of family gatherings, tooo much more to fill in this tiny space and allt he amazing couchsurfers that made it possible. thank you all!!!
