ABOUT ME

I've been on couchsurfing since 2010 and seldom updated this profile, but now's the time, especially as I wrap up my life in Portland, OR, USA, relinquish most of my material possessions, and set out to New Zealand with a backpack. So, as of October 2019:

Things that characterize my life at current are my meditation practice, participation in my intentional community where I live, nourishing social engaging/authentic relating, and caring for my body and my community. Physical activity is very important to me, as is time outdoors and tending to the land, growing food, and breathing. Ultimate frisbee is a very important part of my life and I am always up for a good game of ping pong as well. Hiking, biking, and backpacking are other ways I spend my time.

For work I am an occupational therapist working with children with a wide variety of disabilities.

PHILOSOPHY

I like believing that granola is short for "granulated ola."

I need opportunities for physical activity, authentic relating with people around me, and time spent in nature. Other than this I can sway as my environment urges.

In recent years I've become much more oriented to the lens of self-compassion and by extension, compassion towards others. It's a practice, of course.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted and been hosted and it has been a swell and enriching time across the board. I am still close friends today with someone I couchsurfed with in 2010 for a weekend in Haifa, Israel.

Jumped in the lake in the winter in new england, hollowed out a spot in the ice to submerge in the waters below

Pickled burdock root to perfection

Lived with a functional humanure system for the past 14 months! (Yes, composting our fecal matter)

Contact Improv, a bunch of unlikely frisbee throws, some bodywork (craniosacral, massage, various physiotherapy type stretches). I definitely love cooking meals for people and have a lot of experience cooking both omvinorous and vegan things.
