ABOUT ME

I am a teacher who loves to travel in my spare time. I think that traveling teaches a person way more than any book. And, there are two ways to travel. First, by the guide book, to hit all the places some travel writer says are important. Second, by the backdoors to visit the people who really live in an area. That way, a traveler can see what the area is really like, not just what a guide book wants you to find out.

PHILOSOPHY

When my mother died 8 years ago, I realized that she died 6 months from her retirement and her time to live life. She had so many plans she never got around to completing. I decided that I would not do that. SInce then, I have traveled around the U.S. and Europe, learning so much about the world and myself.

I am a traveler who would like to help others enjoy their travel experience more by helping them maximize their short amount of time in Orange County.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not stayed with anyone, but enjoy hosting people who are true couchsurfers (people who enjoy meeting others and seeing how a person in that part of the country lives). I love meeting people from other parts of the country and around the world and showing them my neck of the woods. I don't want surfers who just want a free place to stay, or want a party buddy.

Interests

I am interested in all the great things that Orange County and southern L.A. county have to offer. Although I am not a native of this area, I know much about the highlights that both areas have to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am an old movie buff, and have been to every major rock concert in the last 10 years. I read mostly teen novels (job hazard) and historical fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled to both Western and Eastern Europe and am so amazed to see both old history (I was a history major, and I love seeing the things I learned in texts) and the new history countries are forging since the fall of Communism.
