About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To take over the world.

ABOUT ME

I grew up taking very few family vacations, and always only to places where we could drive within a day or two. So now that I'm finally established in New York with a full-time job, I'm excited to have the money to start traveling more on my own.

Generally - I consider myself to be extremely laid back and easy to get along with. Where others see problems, I just see little bumps in the road, a philosophy that has done me very well so far in life.

I don't know what else. I'm really bad at these things. Just ask me or something.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My initial participation in CouchSurfing was through a previous roommate, who mentioned she was planning on hosting a couple of surfers. I had no idea what she was talking about. Through her, I ended up meeting travelers from France, England, Denmark, and Canada, as well as Serbia and Germany (through another friend who has since started surfing). I've hosted a few people on my own now and have had an amazing time with all of them.

Interests

I'm a rabid consumer of quality television (and the occasional piece of fluffy junk TV). I enjoy challenging my mind and body with a regular yoga class and a good run.

I love cooking and trying out new recipes, though I'm still not super confident in my abilities to improvise and try new things in the kitchen. I love dining out and experiencing local food, and hunting down the best eats is also one of my favorite aspects of traveling.

I love New York summers--with the outdoor drinking and dining and rooftop parties--and New York autumns--when it's just cool enough for a light jacket and scarf. However, I hate the 2-3 weeks in between the two seasons, when it's unbearably hot and steamy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2010 - I went to Spain and spoke Spanish well enough to get my friend and me out of a lío or two. Later in the year I walked along the Great Wall and then overcame some serious jetlag for the first time. Oh, and I learned how to make a RIDICULOUS pecan pie.
