About Me

CURRENT MISSION : HumanBeingSpirit - World Peace. Currently on a wandering walk-about, discovering new places for service. Serendipity, Synchronicity, and Manna from Heaven are by mainstays. I am a mother of 5 and grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 2. I am an artist, writer, story teller, Vibrational Crystal Healer, ESL teacher, educational curricula designer, editor, anthropologist

ABOUT ME

I am passionate about lively spirituality, a positive and fun approach to understanding the way we can make as much Beauty as we can and be as joyful as we can. To make our lives our greatest art. I love children and am considered a Mystical Grandmother-Nanny McPhee. I do crystal healing therapy - ask me, I'll tell you all about it.

I love to be of service in whatever ways are needed, tidying up, lending support wherever it is needed. I am also an ESL teacher, a writer and editor. I have traveled around India, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau, Buryatia (Siberia in Russia).

I have traveled so much and lived in so many places I simply cannot catalog them here.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a mystery and we cannot know its secrets. There is a logic to the universe beyond our understanding and things are unfolding as they should to help us learn and develop our capacities to love. We are all as perfect as we can be in this special moment.

My interests are so many. Art, Gardening, Foraging, Herbal Medicine, NVC, Plant-Human Communication, Spirituality (practice as well as philosophy and history), Indian Classical Music

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been hosting travelers for many decades - way before there was a website. I have been promoting international friendship since I was a teenager and hosting many activities that highlight cultures from all over the world. It has been a life mission, and I am seeing the fruit of this work these days.

For many decades, long before there was internet or a website, I shared my home with U.S. and international travelers. We didn't call it "couch surf" we called it Hospitality. This was always and still is an integral part of my lifestyle. Sharing and making friends for Peace.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

ooooh! too many - every day is wonderment and magic. There is no "big" or "little."

a short list:
1984 - Heard about the Prophecy and my husband and 4 children moved to Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation in South Dakota in the fall and through the worst winter in 100 years. Lived 5 miles out on the prairie in a log cabin, temperatures reached 75 degrees below freezing, melting snow for all water - washing, cooking, drinking!

I took my four children to live on the island of Montserrat the summer of '77, long before the volcano erupted. We lived at the top of the mountain that wasn't the volcano ;) and could see it clearly just across the valley. A short sprawling mango tree laden with mangoes was in the backyard and the kids ate mangoes every day. the elder fellow named Paddy lived next door and had a family of goats. Montserrat is famous for the black sand of the beaches.

While traveling through out Kerala in southern India, there were many wonderful experiences. My 11 yr old daughter had very light blonde hair. Apparently in Kasaragod, in northernmost Kerala, a blonde person had never visited before. We were next to a school and all the students from 5 yr to 18 yr surrounded our house and shoved their faces through the windows. The teachers could not force them back to class. We tried to shut the shutters but it was too hot inside. So we then decided to bring my daughter outside and let them have their fill of looking at her. It turned out to be a lovely meeting and thereafter they left us alone except for waves and smiles as they passed by going to school!

in Kerala we stayed with a family in the heart of a coconut grove. We slept on a earthen floor and had one of the best times of all. My daughter was fascinated by drawing the bucket up from the water in the well and, as a competent and independent girl wanted to do it herself - another amazing feat that was not expected of her. At another time, she and I stayed in the home of a Homeopathic Dr in a suburb of Kochi. We also visited the fishing island of Viphin, which we reached by ferry.

I arrived in the small town of Kyakhta, Buryat Republic in Southern Siberia, right on the Mongolian border on May 2, 1993. My traveling companions and I got settled in our homestay place with super thick feather beds and comforters! It was a pleasant cool Spring day - a welcome change from the heat of southern India. The next morning, I was the first to arise and saw that while we were sleeping many inches of snow had fallen and all was blanketed in white. I was the first to brave the cold and attempt to go to the outside latrine, attempt, the snow was knee high deep!It was the day we were to join the town's Victory Day commemoration which marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War (also known as the Great Patriotic War in the Soviet Union). We had to walk into the town, without proper shoes or boots or coats, go directly to buy winter coats and boots before arriving at the school where the last of the veterans were being honored.

Teach, Learn, Share

I AM a teacher by trade and vocation. I present educational and inspirational workshops, classes or all kinds - about education, art, social change, linguistics, anthropological topics, healing, myth, writing, importance of reading aloud.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I arise to whatever is needful: I can paint a room, scrub the stove, help in the garden, write a plan, clear the cobwebs, provide spiritual counseling, parenting advice, hair painting, mending clothes, NVC intro and coaching. I walk with a cane sometimes, sometimes more than other times, have limited walking distances. Otherwise hardy. I love to wash dishes - the negative ions are good therapy. :-)
