About Me

I'm not in NYC -- I'm traveling the world at the moment.

** If your profile isn't fully filled out and I can't get a feel for who you are... please don't send me a message, I won't reply ***
-------------------------------------------------------
Graduated college and moved to NYC where I lived for 3.5 years. Still my favorite place in the whole wide world, but decided it was about time I traveled for a while. So on February 2018 I took off to travel. First stop was Taiwan. Rode around the island on a motorbike with my brother. Definitely a memorable experience!

Southern Thailand getting was next where I got my yoga teacher training -- which was mostly some combination of me + book + yoga + beach. It was really nice, but also little actual travel has been done. Made my way to Europe in Mid-may where I stopped in Italy and have been in Spain for the month of June and will be for a couple weeks in July. Can I just say -- Europe is a dream.

I don't love being in big crowds and 'partying' is not my jam. BUT I love in depth conversations on just about anything. I can (and would love to) chat about different types of snacks for hours on end... In fact I may have just thought of a new podcast idea :-)

I work as a copywriter as I travel, but not much (10hours/week)... and I'm hoping to teach yoga to anyone who'll let me teach them as I go. I was training in Muay Thai back in Brooklyn and I adore any type of body movement -- although it's been tricky sticking to any fitness routine while I travel.

I love to eat. Like really really love to eat. Snacks of all kinds make my heart happy. But also ice-cream. That's pretty stellar too. I used to be a vegetarian for a long time, but eat anything and everything now (although I still love eating vegetarian).

I love reading and writing, but all my brain time currently is spent on studying and working -- so my giant list of reading is on hold for now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS back in 2010 when it had a different feel and haven't really been back on since (until now). I traveled a bit with CS in the US and have attended many events in the Austin and Orlando communities. As I set off to travel the world, I hope to share my experiences with the people I meet and get to learn more about other cultures. The best way to see a place is to meet and chat with the locals (that's youuuu) and I would LOVE to meet you :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the pleasure of participating in fun and exciting events with the Austin CSers... which was full of adventures. I went on a mini- road trip up to Bonnaroo Music Festival in college and had the pleasure of surfing in Savannah and Atlanta with AMAZING hosts!

Interests

I eat like it's my hobby. Which has proven slightly problematic since my typical workout routines are no longer a thing.

I love to boogie. I used to go to a Salsa club in NYC every Saturday... There was a live band. I felt like those nights fed my soul a little. I'm interested in any kind of dance, but there's something really energetically there for me with Salsa.

I'm a studying & practicing yoga teacher. I feel like this is a life-long study, but I'm finishing up my 500 hour certification now. I've been practicing on my own for about 8 years. Yoga isn't gymnastics and if that's the only lesson I can get across that hot damn, I'll take it. Not really, but also yes. It's been a real treat to dive deep into the theory and history behind this historic tradition.

Muay Thai changed my life. I tried it because I secretly (or not so secretly) wish I was Sydney Bristow (for any of you Alias fans out there). I loved it. I feel like such a power house when I train and it has made me realize that I can be an athlete (something that never crossed my mind). While I'm wildly out of shape now, I am very excited to train consistently once I go to Northern Thailand.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don’t like to watch movies often... I like cheesy action flicks though. Anything with a secret agent. I don’t do scary. I do love TV shows: Alias, Covert Affairs, New Girl, FRIENDS (this is my favorite of all time), HIMYM, SATC, Gilmore Girls, Chef's Table... this list could go wayyy on.

I love music. It feeds me, but for some reason I rarely have it playing. I love Jazz (Fatswaller, Django Reinhardt, Billie Holiday, and all the big bands), bluegrass (punch brothers, steve martin) and funk (dumpstaphunk)... Honestly I haven't kept up with anyone and I do like a good pop song. Pretty much anything that has soul.

Shantaram is currently my most recent book obsession. Also Madeleine Albright’s memoir (that I've yet to finish, but have loved thus far).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode on the back of a motor-scooter around Taiwan. The ride through the mountains was truly unbelievable.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some basic Russian phrases and a Russian card game. I'd love to learn anything new about a culture or anything that has to do with food and cooking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook simple vegetarian dishes that are tastey!

Lead you through a yoga session.
