About Me

Friends say I'm somewhat of a nomad... and in some way maybe I am! I was born in Mexico City in March 1987 and since then I've been moving around. I've lived in the State of Mexico, San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Dallas (Texas), San Diego (California), Aix-en-Provence, France, in Athens, Greece, Belgium, India, Jordan, South Sudan and the Central African Republic! I work in the humanitarian sector mainly with displaced people, hence all the moving around. But I also love to travel and I've done my share of it. However, every new place I go I realize there's still so much of the world to discover. Yet, I also really like to show others the great things there are in my own country, and the place(s) I call home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a wise friend once told me, it’s all about the human geography. So far I've had the chance to surf a few times, met up for coffee a couple of others, have hosted three or four times and I also participated somewhat in the Athens and Brussels groups attending several meetings.

Interests

I'm passionate about Politics and History, but also about Literature, Cinematography and the arts in general. As a result of these passions, and as part of them as well, I love to travel. I want to see the world, the people that live in it, understand their ways, be enriched spiritually by the beauty they create, and discover how to make the relations we sustain and the sharing of this little planet we have, better every day.

Music, Movies, and Books

"Zorba the Greek", by Nikos Kazantzakis (and pretty much anything by him), "Los detectives salvajes" by Bolaño, "The God of Small Things" by Roy..."Cien años de soledad", by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is my favorite book.... I also love "The Umbearable Lightness of Being" (Milan Kundera), "Steppenwolf" (Herman Hesse), "Rayuela" (Julio Cortazar) and many others...
The Beatles, Queen, Cafe Tacuba, the Raghu Dixit Project....
Woody Allen, Tarantino, Charlie Kauffman, Kubrick, Tim Burton, Guy Ritchie, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A night sky fulls of stars, from horizon to horizon, over the Bolivian salt lake of Uyuni. Machu Picchu floating above the clouds at sunrise. The floating man-made islands of the Uros in lake Titicaca. The sunset over the endless sands of the Sahara. The blue city of Chefchaouen on the skirts of the Rif mountains in Morroco. The colors, smells, crowds, madness, delicious food, amazing monuments, countless religions, races, languages, cows, gods and all that chaos and inexplicable flow of India. The relentless energy of Brussels and its people.

Last but most definitely not least, the beautiful life-like paintings of Clarita, an incredible woman who suffered from advanced parkinson's disease (constant involuntary movements) in Medellin, Colombia.
