About Me

I am Judith and I'm 25 years old.
I'm born in the Netherlands. There I've lived in Dordrecht, Leiden and Harlingen.

Right now I live in Dordrecht

In 2013 I decided to quit my study. I then gave up my appartment and my job and decided to travel in Mexico with my now exboyfriend Roger. I ended up staying 5 months and hitchhike all over the country.
I went back to the Netherlands to celebrate Christmas and New Years with my family and right after that in January 2014 I decided to go back to Mexico because we got offered a job as captain and crew on a boat. All we needed to start that job was for Roger to get his captains license, so we spent 2 months in San Diego for him to go to the Maritime Institute. After that we were flown into Fiji to work on the boat, and then took it to Samoa to pick up our tourists. We took the tourists to the Phoenix Islands in Kiribati (Enderbury Island, Birnie Island, Orona Island and Kanton Island), then to Tokelau and back to Samoa. This was a great experience! Afterwards we were invited to stay in a traditional village in the jungle of Vanua Levu, Fiji. Best experience ever!
When I came back in the Netherlands, I had found myself a new adventure. For a year I worked and lived on a 40m sailboat called "Klipper Iselmar" and sailed around Friesland, the Dutch islands, the Waddensea and Ijsselmeer. On that ship I worked as a nanny and took care of Vela, a 3 year old girl.
When sailing season was over I moved back to Dordrecht where I am originally from, and moved in with my new boyfriend Daniel.
We live in a small apartment near the city center with our CAT and are ready to host!

The most important things in my life are my friends, my mother and travelling.

I am a very openmindend person (yes I know, that's on everybody's profile), I love to learn new things, and I love to meet new people.
I like to travel. I've traveled through Europe when I was 18 and hitchhiked trough almost all of Mexico, but I am now ready to see other parts of the world as well. I would really love to go to South America and see some parts of Asia.

PHILOSOPHY

What makes you different, makes you beautiful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I always try to host people no matter where I am and how I live. When I lived in Leiden I had a really small apartment but it would always be full with 1 or 2 couchsurfers. While I was in Mexico I had more space to host people, up to 8 people on our boat, but the place was very remote. Then we've traveled and since then I have not be able to host. I surfed a few times in Mexico which were amazing experiences. Even when I'm not there to host I make sure I can host someone by asking friends to host them at their place.
I am now living in a small apartment in Dordrecht were I can only host one person (maybe two if you don't mind sleeping on the floor)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted as much people as possible. I surfed only 5 times (2 in Belgium, 1 in Londen, 2 in Mexico).
I always try to join local events, especially when I lived in Leiden I always joined the Friday meetings and other events.

Interests

Hitchhiking! I like listening to music, going to parties and festivals. I really like all kind of body art such as tattoos, piercings and tunnels. Dreads! Squatters and squats. Dumpsterdiving and recycling. Art; for example literature, painting and photography. Travelling (ofcourse....) This also includes meeting new people and learning other languages (currently learning Spanish)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So many things already!
August/September 2014 I've lived in a traditional village on Vanua Levu in Fiji for a month... Can't describe that experience.... I learned how to weave a mat!

We took divers to PIPA (Phoenix Islands Protected Area) in Kiribati as the first commercial/non scientist boat ever to be allowed! There I've snorkled right above (20cm) a huuuuuuuuuuuuge seaturtle... He was curious to meet his first human!

The year before that I've travelled trough Mexico for 5 months. Every single minute was breathtaking! We hitchhiked trough the whole country and met so many nice people, couchsurfers but also other people. And we've seen amazing things! The maya and aztec pyramids are amazing, so are the cenotes, the day of the death festival, everything.

My first travel experience was a lot different but amazing too. I've traveled trough Europe with my best friend when I was just 18. We went on a 1,5 month train-trip, and visited Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Medveja (Croatia), Monaco and Paris. We stayed in hostels most of the time, since I wasn't a member of couchsurfing by then (which I regret now). The most I liked about our trip were the people I met. We met so many nice people in the train and in the hostels. Some of them really inspired me. I really hope to meet more people like that, and couchsurfing seems to be the perfect thing for that.

I'm making a wish list too, of all the things I really want to do.
On top of my list now is to hitchhike South America, and go to Machu Picchu in Péru :) I want to go from Colombia as much South untill I can see pinguins ;)
Second place on my list is to walk the Camino de Santiago.
Also Asia is on my wishlist (mostly Thailand, Phillipines and India)
All of this ofcourse together with my fiance

Teach, Learn, Share

I really love language, so I would really like to learn some words or sentences in different languages. I am now trying to learn Spanish.
Of course I can help you to learn how to speak or write Dutch :D
I really love to cook, and would like to eat food from your country! And I can cook typical Dutch meals for you!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kiribati, Mexico, Monaco, Samoa, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Tokelau, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
