Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

"Six impossible things before breakfast."

ABOUT ME

Travel light and leave often. I like to keep myself very busy and am always starting random photo/art bomb projects. I am extremely fascinated with human interaction, thus making couchsurfing a great way to meet interesting individuals with a unique back story.

)*(

Always up for an adventure, spur of the moment, or downright bad/brilliant idea.

After spending seven months in the Alaskan wilderness i've been traveling around since August and have made it through California, Burning Man, Colorado and am now making my way through Europe and then hopefully on to warmer climates for winter.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Two months after buying a one way ticket to New Delhi, India I found myself alone on the opposite side of the country in the city of Tirupati, the center of Hindu pilgrimage, and also the most visited place of worship in the world . My next train was delayed giving me a free day and without realizing the significance of the journey I climbed the 3,650 steps and 9 miles to the top of of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. As I climbed I learned about the temple I would be reaching at the end of my trek. This journey was also unknowingly the same night as a lunar eclipse. Hindu's believe that during an eclipse the god's lose their power and cover all holy statues with cloth. When I finally reached the top night had fallen and the only option was to take a bus down the mountain without seeing the famous temple. Soon after the bus set off the eclipse began and I found myself the only foreigner packed into a bus full of holy men praying and chanting to give their power to the gods. The darker the sky became the louder the prayers. Certainly a surreal experience in an incredible country.

Insegna, impara, condividi

During a recent reunion dinner with a friend they commented on what a shame it was my legs had become so scarred during my time away. I immediately became self conscious, shifting and crossing them beneath the table for the duration of the meal.

Now, the Webster Dictionary defines "scar" as a mark of damage and names perfection as it's prime antonym. It wasn't until I sat alone that night examining the white lines and purple indentations that now sprawl across my knees and calves that I realized how precious these new scars were. They are a part of who I am and the things i've seen. From a white halo that circles my right calf from falling through a bridge in Laos to the purple patches traveling up my left ankle from tipping a motorbike in Northern Thailand. They are my adventure spots, my beauty marks, stamps of time well spent and I couldn't be more proud.

I will never be the most beautiful woman in the room, nor would I want to be. I would by lying if I said my looks don't concern me, it's natural, but they will certainly not dictate the way I spend my life. Friends from home and from the road please live as hard as you can, experience your surroundings fully and let your beauty shine through the amazing things you've witnessed and the people you've loved.

Travel in which ever way you can, whether that means flying across the globe or simply letting yourself become lost in your own city.
