About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Volunteer and travel in South America, and continue to mejorar mi espanol.

ABOUT ME

Currently living and volunteering in the Midwest of South America. Ah, Bolivia, the heartland.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm still working this one out, but here's my take on exploring NYC. Don't take a cab; take the subway. DO NOT get on a red tour bus; walk. This is the way the city is meant to be seen and experienced--crammed against strangers from all over the city in a tiny subway car, and being part of the city as you explore it on foot. Oh, and eating should be a top priority while you're here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed. I've hosted.

Interests

I have old lady interests. Knitting. Crocheting. Cooking. Herb gardens.

Repurposing old into new. Being more conscious of what I eat, and eating locally. But also, eating badly. Watching too much TV. Walking, and exploring NYC on foot. Sometimes on rollerblades.

Portland, Oregon seems amazing from the one weekend I spent there. I might like to live there someday.

Music, Movies, and Books

Now reading The Language Instinct by Steven Pinker, and listening to Murakami's Kafka on the Shore on audiobook. Remember Louis Sachar? His kids' books were awesome, too.

Right now in South America and miss good old U.S. TV and music like crazy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During a hike in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala, I made my way up hills lined with agave trees, across an open field of cows, through a bamboo grove, along a dirt road lined with tiny butterflies, under barbed wire, and across Xela's largest and smelliest garbage dump, all to get to an overlook where we watched a volcano erupt. Sometimes it's the journey?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit or crochet. I'd like to learn how to play the charango.
