ABOUT ME

I'm an easy-going Dutch guy, who enjoys getting to know different people and other cultures :) Working at the Holland Water House now in Bogotá, Colombia!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After a semester of studying/travelling in Santiago de Chile and a year of working/travelling in Ecuador, in 2009 I discovered Central America after which I estabilished in Colombia early 2010! Until October 2012 I lived and worked in Medellin, since then it has been Bogotá :)

In May and June 2010 I travelled through Peru for 6 weeks, during which I discovered CouchSurfing. I find it a great way of travelling, while you get to know the local culture and their people a lot better! Besides, Couchsurfers are usually very interesting and openminded persons :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had drinks with other CouchSurfers and surfed a lot during my last travels, while in Medellín we received several nice travellers too... both options have been great!

Interests

- Music: I love to play guitar and I started playing drums a couple of years ago too, moreover I always have music on while doing things. It could be some decent old school hiphop, a piece of smooth jazz or bossa nova, some classic rock or the last dirrrty reggaeton hit hehe... I like it all :)

- Sports: I'm really into soccer, playing it wherever possible and watching if there is a nice match. I also like to run and fitness, while you can also call me for a game of basketball or tennis :)

- Politics: interesting to see what´s going on in Europe, while Latin America and especially Colombia are doing really well... However, Colombia is the 4th or 5th most inequal country in the world, the differences between people´s income here are huge and seem to continue getting larger...

- Different cultures: I love to travel and live for a while in other countries, mostly to meet other people and experience other cultures :) It's great to get to know persons with such different backgrounds and viewpoints, while telling them a bit about mine as well.

- Other languages: I like to speak something else than Dutch, have done that for more than 20 years now ;) Decent conversations in English or Spanish are no problem, but don't expect too many interesting things coming out my mouth in German or French ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My road trip through Australia and New Zealand with a good friend, driving around with an old huge Ford when we just had turned 18 :)
