About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish Sangoo's story.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on the coast of Australia; I don't surf but I do eat vegemite and almost nobody can pick my accent. Other Australians tend to ask me 'So, where're you from?'

Korea has become my second home and its where most of my best friends are / were made.

I wish I was born a ninja.

I work in TV but I hate the media and despise the fact that I'm partly responsible for the soul-sucking stupifying garbage which is directly destroying society. ã

PHILOSOPHY

What goes around comes around and this is pretty much how I live my life. If I show you a good time, you'll show me one. If I'm nice to you, you'll be nice to me. Pretty simple really and this applies to the planet to. I'm not a super left wing greeny, but we've GOT to do better for the world than we are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed couches in North America, Europe and South East Asia and have had the time of my life. I've hosted once in Sydney and am looking forward to hosting again once I move to a house with CS friendly housemates. (December, I hope!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some of the best people in my life through couch surfing and have so many great stories to share. They are however, best experiences over a meal, with a beer or a wine. Ask me about Brooklyn, L.A., Chiang Mai and Beijing, those are some of my best ones, and then when the telling is done, let's go and make some new ones.

Interests

Geez - this section could go on forever!

I will eat anything except beondaegi, Korean fried silk worm larvae. The taste is okay, the explosion, not so much. (ë²

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into books and audio books these days. Some awesome ones are: The Neanderthal Parralax by Robert J. Sawyer, The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break by Steven Sherril and anything by Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book and Crazy Hair are my favourites.

Manga, Graphic Novels and Comics are awesome pretty awesome. Some great ones are: Tekkonkinkreet by Taiyō Matsumoto, Monster by Naoki Urasawa, Preacher by Garth Ennis.

There are too many films, both live action and anime to name, but I have a soft spot for the weird, the wonderful and the amazing. Neon Genesis Evangelion was hugely influential when I was a kid and old Chinese ghost stories, along with Japanese monster flicks and American cartoons (Nickelodeon) probably turned me into the weirdo I am.

Music - lately I'm listening to 30 Seconds to Mars, Birds of Tokyo (Australian band believe it or not), Muse, Placebo, Amanda Palmer, Lady Hawke

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survive teaching English in Korea without any experience.

Ride from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City having never ridden a bike before.

Do hook kicks on the great wall of China!

Finish my manuscript!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a teacher, anything I know, I can teach you.

I can teach you English.

I can teach you basic Korean (reading is especially easy to learn).

I can help you with just about anything television, film or photography related.

And I'm a pretty good cook and make some mean Australian and Korean dishes.

I could teach you Nun-chucks (oh yeah, now I'm talking myself up!) and we could practice ninja, martial arts or yoga skills. Even better we could do it on top of a mountain! That'd be pretty cool.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Denmark, Iceland, Japan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, South Korea
