About Me

What I want : speaking English ! and german ! meet new people, learn, have fun...
There are so many things to see, discover, learn, so many people to meet... we can't wait for life !
I'm always glad to meet new people and I think everybody has something to bring to the others ;)

My philosophy is :
- "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" (qui ne tente rien n'a rien) because I think when you really want to do or to get something, you can succeed.
- and "let it be" (even if it seems to be the contrary !) : learn to accept and to be satisfied by what really happens is the way to happiness ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hosted quite a lot of people, mostly intesresting, passionate people and that's my way to participate at CS. I surfed only 6 times (Kehl, Freiburg, Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Montpellier and Vaison-la-Romaine) and it was also great. Unfortunately I don't have time enough to contribute to events, meetings or else.

Interests

ENVIRONMENT : I take my vegetables "basket" in a CSA in Avignon (l'AMAP Libre Terre) and can tell you more about this alternative way of consuming organic and local food (and way of meeting great people!)

YOGA : I have been practicing yoga for several years and I'm attending a training to become a teacher. I still have a lot to learn but it already changed my life :) I can give you a lesson with pleasure (we have a room dedicated to the practice at home) but if you want to try some different sorts of yoga (ashtanga, vinyasa, hatha, flying yoga), we can go together at Le Nid in Avignon.

SPORTS : (yoga is not a sport for me, rather a way of life ;) I like HIKING (we have great place to see near Avignon... and it's an activity we can have with a child !), and I use daily my BIKE to move in Avignon.

I practice KAYAK on the Rhône with my husband on Tuesday or Thursday evening with the great team of my club (a lot of fun on the water but also on earth eating and drinking after the sport !). Sometimes we go again rivers and on the sea... but with children we don't have so many opportunities, it will go back !

I used to CLIMB, but there is a long time I don't... If you climb at a good level, I would be glad to go with you to beautiful places we have near Avignon (I have the books with indications and my own equipment) but you have to lead !!!
And do you know "slack-line" ? I have one and it's very funny ;)

BOOKS (surprising for a librarian, isnt'it ?) I recommand :
- the children bookshop "L'eau vive"
- the bookshop of comics "La Crognotte rieuse"
- the second-hand bookshop of comics "La Licorne"
- and the bookshop of literature and social sciences "La Mémoire du Monde",
If you can, avoid buying books at the FNAC (or worth, Amazon) and make booksellers still exist ! And please, if you read English books, you HAVE TO visit the very cosy bookshop of a friend of mine "Camili Books & Tea" !

EDUCATION : now that I am th mother of 2 girls (Margot and Léonie), I'm really interesting in giving them the opportunity to become happy persons and try to do my best, even if sometimes I fail ! If you wish, I will glad to talk about what you saw by others or tested yourself with children :)

TRAINS and GEOGRAPHY : with my husband (who speaks a very bad english, so give him a opportunity to improve !) you can talk during hours about travel because he have maps in his head ! there is also transport schedules in his strange brain, so don't hesitate to ask him how to join a destination, he will be glad to help you to find the public transport you need :)

MOVIES : we have a great and cheap cinema (movie theater?) in Avignon named Utopia.

PIANO: I had an eletric one at home if you like to play ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I find very difficult and almost impossible to choose books, movies and music along those I love or appreciate ! And it doesn't define us that well : many people love the same movies because everybody love these movies... I can try if you wish but that's not so important, I can everyday discover and love new ones !

I have been a very long time adoring "Forrest Gump". "Snatch", "Fight Club", "Pulp Fiction"... "Princess Mononoké", "Persepolis"... Also unknwon german movies like "4 Minuten", "An der andere Seite", "Herr Lehmann" or well-known "das Leben der anderen". I loved "Bobby". Maybe surprising, I have seen only the three first old movies of "Star Wars" =) More recently : Mustang.

The 3 authors I read when I have time are Maylis de Kérangal, Gaëlle Josse and Sophie Divry. Ah and Marie-Aude Murail who I read when I was child and whom I'm waiting for the next book (5th Sauveur & fils).

I'm interested in comics and I discovered great works : Magasin général, Combats ordinaires, le Chat du rabbin, Le Sursis, Kiki de Montparnasse, Miss Pas Touche, Sillages, Garulfo, De Cape et de Crocs, Enki Bilal, Black Sad, Rosalie Blum, Domas, Davodeau, Moebius, ... I'm certain I forget GREAT authors I read and that's why I' don't like this section !! And I refuse to write about books, I prefer to talk about when I'll meet you !

I use for a long time to love Norah Jones (but I see her at a concert...) but I also listen to others things and everything you will make me try ! Buena Vista Social Club, Afrocubism, Toumani Diabate, Moriarty, Gotan Project, Nina Simone...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

...nothing in mind, sorry ! but marveling about everything is the key to make life astonishing, isn't it ?

I forgot it : I lived more than 2 years without cellphone, it's rare enough to be extraordinary... but since I have my daughter, it's really impossible, so I resigned myself (but no smartphone ! ok I use the one of my husband... but only at the end of the day ! =)

Teach, Learn, Share

languages : I really need to improve my English! I love speaking German and I can help with your French.

yoga : I can make you practice yoga if you like, wether you are beginner or intermediate, it's interesting for me to improve my experience as teacher.

books : I like comics (we have a great second-hand bookstore in Avignon) and books, can advice you good titles and I like get some new good references...

What I Can Share with Hosts

cooking : I'm not a great cook so I appreciate learning tips and new recipes.

music : I LOVE listening to live music so if you're a musician, welcome at home !

permaculture and non violent communication are two things I would love to learn more about because I think they are keys for future
