About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Oh man, I don't even know anymore.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel, and to me heaven is motorcycle touring. I always have a smile on because the good and the bad are all part of any experience. If you want the experience, you have to accept it all. My personal philosophy is "If you can keep everyone around you laughing, then you're doing good in the world." I like meeting new people, experiencing new things, trying new foods.

PHILOSOPHY

I live for adventure. I love to travel and I love new experiences. My favorite quote is "I will not tiptoe softly through life, only to arrive safely at death." and "Be the change you want to see in the world." is a close second.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couchsurfed in 31 states over the span of a year in the US.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first heard of couchsurfing.org from a friend of mine. We were teachers in Japan together, and we left Japan at the same time. She was from England but rather than go home, she went to California and started touring the U.S. When she was staying with me in New York after months of travel from west to east, I asked her how she could possibly afford to be doing this. "I couch surf most places I go." was her reply. Now the term made sense in my head but I had never heard of this community so I asked "How do you meet someone everywhere you go? How can you plan that into your budget that you're just going to meet someone cool enough to let you stay with them?" "No, no, there's a website for it." and she described couchsurfing to me. I can say that if anyone else had told me about couch surfing I would have thought "Gee, I dunno. Sounds a little sketchy." but instead I thought "Wow, if she can couch surf all over the U.S. and Canada for a year, I have nothing to worry about." I created a profile, and months later when I quit my job to tour the country I began meeting all the coolest people in the world. That's what couchsurfing is to me. It's like a not-so-secret club for all the most generous, most interesting people in the world, and I consider myself privileged to have met as many CSers as I have.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like a little of everything but my favorite band would have to be The Grateful Dead

Books: "The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox"; "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.
Just about anything by Gaiman (Especially "The Sandman" graphic novels)

Movies: Too many to list but the first that jumps to mind is a Korean film called "Attack the Gas Station" Trust me on that one (-^,)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw the U.S.A from the seat of my motorcycle. https://wherelegendsroam.blogspot.com Went skydiving over Canyonlands National Park. Sat on the edge of the grand canyon (but if you go, plan a day hike INTO the canyon). Watched the sunset in White Sands National Monument. Camped out in Yellowstone National Park. I've done a lot of things, but the greatest part of all my experiences has been the people I've met.
