About Me

My name is Rosario but I prefer to be called simply Saro.
I am an history degree who by chance started to work in an hostel and then as a tour guide in Sicily.
I am a simple person who enjoys the human experience, really love to have a glass of wine (I love wine!) and an interesting person to talk with (crazy parties times are gone!)...time is of the essence so I love to spend it doing what I love: learning, staying in nature and beauty, meeting interesting people...
Ok...I' don't know what to say about me...I'm a very simple and uncomplicated guy, drink with me, give me a smile and we'll be friends :)

I know my area really well and is many years that I work in tourism field...so if you need any information or help just ask, I'll be happy to answer if I can.

I live in a small town at the feet of Mt. Etna, where the volcano is a really predominant presence. If I am free is a pleasure for me to go with guests in nice places, especially where you would not go following a travel guide. If I am busy here is not easy to move, you have to go out with me and from the nearest train station you can easily get in the main places here around (Catania, Acireale, Taormina, Messina, Siracusa).

PHILOSOPHY:
QUALUNQUE COSA TU VOGLIA FARE, QUALUNQUE SOGNO TU VOGLIA REALIZZARE. BASTA CHE NON CI SCASSI LA MINCHIA

TRANSLATED: LIVE AND LET LIVE...LOVE AND DO WHAT YOU WANT

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The place forges the culture, the way to stay in a place, and so humans...but humans make the place alive...when I travel I love to meet people and to learn from them and couchsurfing is a great way to do that.
Couchsurfing really changed my life, and if now I work with what I love is thank to couchsurfing. So it gave me a lot, and I love to give back what I can.
In general in a world where everything has a price, to give for free what you can, what you love is a small step to a better world that I don't want to give up dreaming about.

Interests

I love meeting people and share experiences with them,I love to drink and chat smoking a cigarette...I love art, concerts, foods, walking and cycling around towns or nature...I love the sea and the high rocks...I love to stop the world in my pictures and read books which show me others worlds...and I could continue again...I just love all the little nice things that life is able to give me, every little surprise is possible to catch on the way...I'll answer to your request just if you'll write "camomilla" in it ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I have some preferred type of music (rock, post-rock, indie-rock, electro-rock, electronic, shoegaze, new-wave, jazz, lounge, old italian music and italian songwriters; and i play in a indie-rock band), books (Dostoevskij,Saramago, Ballard, Calvino, PK Dick, Eggers, Poe, Rimbaud, Foucault, French historian...), movies (Tarantino, Kubrick, Sorrentino, Lars Von Trier, Miyazaki, Fellini etc etc...), but like for everything, I have a really relaxed approach, so doesn't matter what type of art it is or who does it, if it just give me something, if I just like it, it's the right thing for me :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked on the border of an active crater (but that's normal for me! :)
I slept inside the Colosseum!
I've seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion and C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate...

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I teach you? I love history and a famous historian said that in Sicily you can not avoid history! I can talk a lot about that...
I can teach you bad words in Sicilian language, to cook some simple Sicilian recipe (really simple ones:), how to drive in Sicily (who is able to drive in Sicily can do it almost in everywhere :)...how to drive and to roll a cigarette at the same time...
