About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Surviving the North German autumn/winter. Becoming a cool and knowledgable university teacher.

ABOUT ME
People say I'm open-minded, honest, respectful and empathic, funny (in a sarcastic way), an interesting conversation partner, and always ready to explore new things (nora the explorer haha).
I also have a calm, reflective side and I generally prefer one-on-one conversations in calm settings to large party crowds.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm ready to share philosophical thoughts once I meet people and get along with them :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travelled a lot with CS when I was in my early to mid 20s, esp. in France, Spain and Portugal. l also used it for meeting new people when I lived abroad. After experimenting a bit with the "competition" airbnb, I realized that CS is much better :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is great! I've mostly had very very great experiences and still have friends I met through CS!

Interests

I teach courses on sustainability from a social science perspective and try to do my best to reduce my environmental impact, so if you're interested in that, we can talk more, but I'm not gonna force it onto you.

I'm a real "foodie", i.e. I love eating and trying out new restaurants/cafés, if they have veg. options. When living in Bordeaux, I got hooked on (red) wine. I'm not an expert, and I don't spend a lot of money on it, but I think I notice when a wine is 'good' :)

I love music, dance performances, the arts in general, and I always tell myself to go to these things more often than I actually do...

  • arts
  • concerts
  • dancing
  • dining
  • wine
  • yoga
  • music
  • hiking
  • psychology
  • sociology
  • theatre
  • cultural exchange
  • sustainable living
  • political economy

Music, Movies, and Books

music: so depending on my mood. some of my favourite artists are tori amos, cat power, feist, hozier, regina spektor etc....but also more cheerful stuff like reggae, balkan, world music...and, finally, classical music!

books: also depending on my mood, actually I mostly read academic or popular science books&articles

movies: almost anything art-house

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- climbing mount cameroon: getting exposed to all kinds of landscapes and climate (rain forest, lava / moon-like landscape, savanna...) and reaching my personal limits...
- seeing the most amazing landscape of my life at rhumsiki in the north of cameroon
- 3 weeks trip through india, some highlights were living on a houseboat in the kashmir mountains on dhal lake, the amazing effect of sunlight on taj mahal, lots of cake and cookies at a hindu festival, getting totally lost and being screwed over in delhi, starting the morning with yoga in rishikesh and udaipur

Teach, Learn, Share

- I have a diverse academic background in sustainability/development/international relations, so if that interests you, I can try to share some knowledge or perspectives.
- some veg cooking tricks (don't expect german cuisine...). I'm glad to cook dinners for my hosts!
- when it comes to technology or reparing stuff, I have two left hands, sorry!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook you a veg dinner or invite you for dinner and a drink in your favorite place in town.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Cameroon, France, Germany, Netherlands, United States
