About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out what to do with all my quite skattered skills

ABOUT ME

I'm an elder yet cool sister :-) I really believe in friendship, and in telepathy between friends :-) once a friend, always a friend!
I'm a very curious person, I love discovering new cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds, because things have different meanings whether you come from a specific culture or another: for example, when I discovered that pointing your thumb up is a obscene gesture in Iran, at first I was chocked, then I was very happy to have know this fact before setting a foot there :-) that's what make's the world so rich!
What else : I looooove to cook, and my dream one day is to have my own guesthouse. That's one of the reasons I'm keen on buying lottery tickets :-)
I'm also a feminist who strongly believe in equal rights between women and men, and not afraid to express my opinion in an uptight environment. After all, without freedom of expression man have nothing.
Things I enjoy the most : spending quality time with my friends, cooking, hiking, dancing (flamenco or oriental dance) and listening to music !

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let the others live!!

Don't do to people what you'd hate people do to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to show around my country to people, because I'd love to have that if I'm traveling abroad, and also to contradict the image nearly all the media draw of Lebanon. So the media are mainly wrong and politicized, I know what a choker! :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As far as I go, I've had nothing but good experiences, I've meet really nice and interesting people.
As for me, I realized that I mainly discovered my country with foreigners!

Interests

Meeting people from around the world, exchanging thoughts and ideas, and putting into practice the languages I'm desperately trying to learn :-)
Also anything related to culture, especially music, dance, theater, etc...
traveling, tasting new dishes, trying to recreate them back home... Story of my life :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music, practically every kind with a preference for Flamenco (the traditional more than the new one), sufi jazz (Dhafer Youssef, yesss) and "la nouvelle chanson francaise" (Tryo, Louise attaque, les ogres de Barback, and so many more). I love something that can move my senses or my logic : I recently listened to the track "Vultures of culture" by the group "Medicine for the people" and found it impressively right!!
I like mixture in general, especially in music so Gnawa diffusion, Abed Azrieh and others like them already found their way to my so called "discotheque".
I'm also fond of Feyrouz's songs and a big fan of Ziad al Rahbani's plays (the peak of creativity if you want my opinion).
As for movies, I'm an unconditional viewer of animated movies :-) I love these. I also like watching comic/action/thriller or eventually well reviewed documentaries.
I like reading detective or crime novels, but what I really enjoy is reading socio-eco-political analysis by journalists or financial-political analysts. because everything makes so much sense after...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wadi el Rum in Jordan
the Hadramout desert in Yemen
Snow flakes falling tenderly in la Creuse (heart of France)
Being able to connect entirely with the song "En lo alto del cerro" by Estrella Morente
feeling this protective bubble around me after getting out of yoga class

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach the languages I know, and expect some help in exchange for the ones I'm willing to learn.
I love to cook lebanese, french and italian cuisine (I have an amazing bookshelf full of cooking books) and find that kitchen talks are amazingly distressing!
and last but not least I can teach you how to make fashion jewelry, and would love it someone could teach me how to carve wood, and maybe one day create shapes out of silver metal...
