About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Consent! Not Power and Privilege!

ABOUT ME

I study Economics and Sociology.

I love meeting new people and the experiences they've had from traveling and the countries they've visited!

I take quite an interest in politics particularly Anarchism, but also in gender theory since I reject the notion of gender binary and that someone's gender plays very little on how you perceive them, a lot of people say it, but in actual fact never mean it. I hate sentences like "women and their bags" or "men and you can't trust them" etc. It drives me crazy, if you want to surf my couch please take that into serious consideration, as I'd rather not have someone like that staying with me who make or believe such statements. I'll take Simone de Beauvoir's famous quote "One is not woman, but rather becomes a woman." Maybe you might understand where I'm coming from.

I volunteer at a place called seomra spraoi, autonomous social centre here in Dublin and a lot of my free time is spent there. It might when I ask that we meet up, that will probably be the place I'll ask you to meet up in. Even if you are only here for a couple days people are always needed to keep it clean or to help out in the kitchen when cafe is on. If you are good at bikes, you can check out our bike workshops or fix my bike :D

I am interested in sex workers rights so radical feminists who think all penetration is rape may want to re-considering writing to me.

I am a vegan, but have come quite disillusioned with the animal liberation movement and would personally not ascribe to it. I am not a vegan for animal rights, but personal reasons and also because I don't know how to cook any other way. I would probably give myself food poisoning if I did. I don't mind if you eat meat and it is your choice, but preferable not in the house out of respect for my housemate who ascribes to animal liberation views. TL;DR I am not a crazy vegan.

I am involved with an anarchist organisation called Workers' Solidarity Movement.

I also do a bit of migrant rights stuff and am also involved with pro-choice stuff here as abortion is illegal in Ireland.

PHILOSOPHY

"It takes less effort to condemn than to think"

"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men."

Music, Movies, and Books

My absolute favourite book is "The French Lieutenant's Woman" by John Fowles followed closely by "Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami. I used to work in a comic shop, so I dabble a bit in American comics such as X-Men and some of the stuff from Virgo and Dark Horse.

"Revolution in Ireland" By Conor Kostivich
"A People's History of the United States"

I absolutely love zines and if you want to bring a zine along that would be fucking awesome! I really like ones on feminism such as consent zines or dealing with different minorities, would love that.
Favourite films: Howl's Moving Castle, Tekkon Kinkreet, Shawshank Redemption, Dead Poet's Society. Due to the amount of anime I watch, other films get a bit left behind. I wish I'd watch more, but somehow I don't :(

I like various music, at the moment I'm partial to post rock but groups that I enjoy God is an Astronaut, Maybeshewill, And so I watch you from afar, If these trees could talk, Mutyumu, Signal Lost, Witch Hunt, From Ashes, CWILL (amazing live, feel privileged to have seen them), Florence and the Machine, Fall of Efrafa (amazing as well live), Final Fantasy (not the game, but he has a crush on Link from Zelda)...this list could go, but let's leave it at that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think going to a no borders camp and meeting all the migrants and people helping them. It really changed my perspective on things and how I view minorities.

The day I started hitchhiking, the people I met. Wow.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to cook vegan, some German or English and how to enjoy reading. A few well-chosen books for the right person can make all the difference. Sadly for many adults after school or/and uni many don't want to pick up a book again.

I'd love to have someone teach me some French, Mandarin or Japanese. An acroyoga partner is always appreciated!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom
