About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experiencing the beauty of life !

ABOUT ME

We’re Amandine and Joaquim, two swiss fellow, thirsty for life (and beer).
We’ve been together for more than 2 years now, enjoying every minutes of it (it sounds very cheesy but whatever).
We’ve travelled together through South Portugal, driving and camping around and did a couple of excursion in the lovely Swiss mountains.
We really would like to discover South America together but for now, we’re about to enjoy Canada for a month and a half :D

--------------------------------------------------------------

(Amandine)

I'm studying human geography (Bachelor) and thinking about specializing in urbanisme and territory planning. I’m about to do one semester in UBC, Vancouver.
I’m also working in bars or restaurants to escape campus life and refill the bank.

I did a gap year after high school (2010-2011) during which I went to New-Zealand, Australia, Japan, Laos, China, Mongolia, Russia and Baltic countries.
I also spent 2 months in West US last summer (2013).
I also did shorter trips in Europe and more lately Morroco (thanks EasyJet !)

If I had a passion, I would say it’s travelling and discovering new countries and people.
Through my travels, I used Couchsurfing but I have a big crush on WOOFFing (volunteering in organic farms in exchange of food and shelter). I did it in New-Zeland and the US.
When I have the time, I try not to fly from one spot to another but to travel by land. I really like the way it makes you understand the country, seeing random places, everyday life, simple things and suddenly beautiful scenery or people in the middle of nowhere. And it gives me a purpose : keep moving forward.
I like to travel with no expectations, just the eyes wide open to discover what I see.

About my personality… I’m a smiling girl, I’m trying to take life and people as they come, I don’t like making things complicated, I can be ironic and sarcastic, I’m a little bit maniac and a little bit messy, I like to go through town on my bike and I really like to observe (sometimes I’m really not discret though),…

(Joaquim)

I have been living for 24 years on this planet, mostly in Switzerland Geneva, a city I love because of its multiculturalism.

I just finished my Bachelor in Engineering (in applied physics) and am truly passionated about physics. I think I approche life a bit like I approche physics, with an open mind and waiting to see how the magic operate. I like to understand how things work together. And juste love to discover new aspect of life.

I'm a mostly quite person but that can change quickly depending on the environment I'm in!

Last summer I did woofing in Turkey during a month trough the western part of the country which was an amazing experience! And I can't wait to discover the Canada this summer!

PHILOSOPHY

It's better if it rains today rather than during a sunny day.

There is no problems, only solutions

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Amandine used already quite a bit Couchsurfing when travelling, Joaquim is pretty new to the community.

(Amandine)
When I’m traveling, and not camping or WOOFFing, I try to mainly use CS for accommodation but it can be pretty complicated, mainly because it's very hard for me to make plans more than one day in advance. I also really like the CS meetings !
I’ve mostly been a host since I join the community, the main reason being that I still live with my parents but I’ll try to make up for that as soon as I can.
