ABOUT ME

Canadian living in Tokyo for 5+ years. Addicted to traveling, particularly Europe. Foodie at heart, I love good wine and beer, plus learning new recipes. Personable, outgoing (very much A-type personality) and active. I love sports and anything adventurous. I can hold a conversation with about anyone, so personality doesn't matter so much, but relaxed people are probably best for me - I deal with smart people everyday, so intellects are fine too. FYI, I am not a morning person AT ALL. Some people have been offended by my lack of cheerfulness before 9am. I apologize in advance. Just give me a hit of caffeine and I will be good to go. Oh and I am sarcastic.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just starting on CS, but hope to build up a global network of friends. Not really interested in meeting up for coffee/drink, as I get that request enough from various people, but crashing at my place is fine.

I am a fanatical organizer. This also means for other people. This could be a disorder. I usually put together Excel spreadsheets with itineraries and specific details, down to what wine (of course that includes vintage) to order at what restaurant, with what food, etc. Yes, that means I am odd and people make fun of me, but friends will tell you countless stories of eating the best food with the best wine at the best restaurant, or seeing some really cool unknown site or going to towns well off the beat and track. I rarely/never walk into a town without an idea of what I want to do, that is why I like CS, it takes me a bit out of my comfort zone as I don't mind leaving some spontaneity about who I will meet and what we will do. Luckily, I am fairly laid back, so as long as we don't do nothing, I am fairly happy just to go with the flow.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Met a few in various places and have crashed a couple times. I've hosted twice (July 2013).
