About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Aprender Español!!!

ABOUT ME

Well...I'm a girl. I'm from "The Sunshine State" of Florida, so I'm happiest in sunny weather. I love to be outside, hiking, biking, climbing, camping, or just lying on the beach with a margarita. I like adventures and experiences of any kind, as long as the sun is shining, I'm a happy girl.

Nearly all of my references have mentioned the word "talkative"...so take that as you will.

My career as an English teacher has allowed me to travel a lot. I lived in Germany for two years, and now I live in Spain. I like it here a lot.

PHILOSOPHY

-Be passionate but patient. Be opinionated but respectful.

-Everything is always ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's just not the end.

-And when all else fails, start dancing....awkwardly.

Some quotes I like:

"Own only what you can carry with you.
Know languages, know countries, know people.
Let your memory be your travel bag."
-Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace"
- Jimi Hendrix

"Music is the great motivator; without it, what would we dance to?"
--Lloyd Whitmore, the best modern dance teacher I have ever had.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE:

surf when I need to, host when I can. I go to meet ups sometimes.

Note: When CS updated their format, my response rate dropped to 0%, I don't know why. I try to respond to everyone who writes me, even if I cannot host them.

EXPERIENCE:

my first surf was an impromptu 5-girl road trip to Amsterdam. I've had many good experiences since then.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Good-old-Rock-and-Roll, Folk/Bluegrass/Songwriters/old country, Soulful ladies, Motown, Hip-hop, pop, feel-good-hits-of-the-summer, jam/indie/surf/garage/reggae/funk bands- you know, the good stuff!
Anything with a little soul, anything I can dance to.
I think my favorite band is Led Zeppelin, but it depends on my mood.

Movies?
based-on-true-stories/ biopics, dramas, comedies, coming-of-age tales and high school comedies, old movies, documentaries.

Books!
I really like true stories, biographies, memiors and historical fiction.
Sometimes I get into a really intricate human-intrest-type novels. I guess it's hard to explain my taste in fiction, but I don't care for Harry Potter or LOTR type stuff...
I read magazines like National Geographic and a lot of news.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Thingstaette 2010: The Heidelberg/Mannheim community celebrates May 1st by gathering at the top of a mountain in a Greek-style amphitheater. There's an all night party with a bon fire and fire spinners from all over perform. I got to perform for all of my friends in the exchange program and the rest of the community! Amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can also bake stuff. tasty stuff.

I teach English, and I love learning languages. I can speak pretty good German and my Spanish is coming along.

I also love learning new dances and anything about music or cooking in other countries/cultures
