About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people, experience life, share ideas...

ABOUT ME

We met when we were 16 years old & now have two teenage boys. (well we've had them since they were born ...not just 'now' suddenly.) We share ton's of mutual interests and solo interests between us. Jamie plays guitar. (We have a bunch of guitars & a keyboard waiting for anyone to share music with us.) The boys & Jamie ski & snowboard. I love sailing and camping in winter or summer. As a family we play hide'n'seek ...mostly with cordless phones & remote controls for the TV.

We have an amazing extended family and group of friends that we're happy to share with guests.

PHILOSOPHY

We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.

From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere. -Dr Seuss

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. -Dr Seuss

Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You. -Dr Seuss

The funny thing about regret is that it's better to regret something you have done then to regret something you haven't done.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're learning this as we go. We have a small 'global chemical engineering project' we'd like CSer's to help us with. Specifically we're inviting folks fom around the world to help us convert wine, beer & scotch into urine.

We have not been able to host very much as we do foster care and
can't have guests when we have vulnerable children living here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's new to us. We backpacked around Europe many years ago and as travellers we found that unless you connect with the 'locals' you never really experience the country. When you travel it's nice to become part of the experience instead of feeling like an observer. We'd love to invite people to share, laugh & teach together.
We've only been CSing a short time but so far we've hosted a few lovely people from Venezuela, Germany, Japan & Saskatchewan!

We hosted a friend from Japan years ago. We loved learning about her and sharing our city & culture.

Interests

Everything! Life is interesting if nothing else. Wind, solar & geothermal power. Solar cooking. We're members of the Ontario Straw Bale Building Coalition & we'd love to build an eco-home someday. I try to carve soapstone when I have time. We love trying new foods. I'm a member of the Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science (more fun then it sounds). I'm a fan of the "Ted Lectures". My husband plays baseball in summer and curls in winter. He's creative and a musician.

Music, Movies, and Books

We love movies. I can never remember the titles or who's in them. (I re-rent movie's thinking we've never seen them before ...then when we re-watch them I think I'm psychic & I guess what's about to happen.) My husbands a human movie encyclopedia and remembers everything. My sister's an independant film maker and film festival director.

Grab a guitar ...we'll get a bonfire going and our souls will meet somewhere between the first note and last note of the night.

I'm a voracious reader. Anything, everything. I've been known to sit in waiting rooms AFTER my appointment's done so I can finish reading the magazines.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We've jumped from planes, white water rafted, dogsledded & swam with polar bears. At some point in our life we've drank to much, partied til sunrise and played music too loud. Apparently we've time travelled as well. One minute we were 20 then the next, BAM 40!! We're still trying to figure out how the heck that happened!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

We open to discussions on every topic in the spirit of sharing. We're very open minded and non-judgmental.
