Sobre mí

About me :

I can say for start im a city person, though I care much about the environment, trying not to interfere or cause harm. I dont like
to consume more then I need in general.
I like to notice layers in every aspects, I tend to purchase second hand as I feel those layers/ history. I don't like the use of plastic.
I do like to experience weather, all kinds, there is no bad weather. saying that I might suffer from humidity, but it's my problem ;)
I do like to explore culture. to have a deep conversation. to enjoy beauties in life.
I made myself a way of approaching sights that capture my eye, I observe them intensively while taking slow 7 breathes, in an out. Try it :)

I may say that my identity is being a photographer and a traveler. I balance between observing and participating. I traveled alot. Its my passion. I tend to travel for duration of 2~4 month.

I'm taking pictures with my analog camera (35mm Leica) with black and white films. I print my own photos in a lab I'm creating when i need to. Usually for exhibitions.

as a photographer I'm making my way in the art world, not easy at all to go forward...
I participated in exhibitions mostly in my country, few times abroad as well.
* I use also my cellular phone like a normal person :) but no digital camera at the moment.

Lately I try to spend quality time doing sports/Yoga. I'm not addicted at all and not doing it more intensively as I should, but I do try and think it is very important.
I love walking (slowly), love cycling (not too fast).

Now for the important staff :
I can't live without coffee! :) and dark chocolate! and whiskey in the winter.
I like to discover second hand books, old ones, I like them as objects, sometimes they have a kind of personality and I like to discover authentic humans marks/ handwritings inside them.
and I love flea markets in general.
i have interest in people who are into collective carefully and specifically things they have passionate about. also people that have skills, some kind of cratf, deep knowledge of their interests, investigation etc. I also like to observe body language.

this is extra i wrote here in the past if you have the patience ☺️
In recent years I was working for short periods, the longest actually lasted 5 years:
2007-2011 was that nice job- working in a workshop for framing art , wooden frames, all hand made. I gained nice skill.
2000-2002 I was working as a flight attendat:) and I'm not even gay;), back then NYC was my second home, I felt great in Manhattan and explored it constently. I flew there alot, and stayed for duration between 2-5days.
I was working for few month at the Cinemateque in Tel Aviv, on an Archive of still pic. from Israeli (mostly)movies.
Between 2002-2006 I was studying (photography and art) and living in Jerusalem. at the Bezalel academy.
since then I'm living in Tel Aviv and traveling a lot for periods of few weeks or few months.

During recent years I traveled mostly in different parts of Europe. still am..
on Summer 2018 I traveled for 4month starting t in the Baltic region including amazing Tallinn! Riga, st.Petersburg and nearby towns, short visit to west Finland, Belarus! Ukraine (in the winter)

I uploaded lately more photos of dear friends, dear people, I met during my traveling, and few in Israel as well.

If you wish to see more photod mostly from Belarus and former Yugoslavia, Turkey and Albania check out my Insta page : Itay Eisenstein. I constantly "travel" there.. it's all past there...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience in cs was while traveling in Scandinavia and Germany (Autumn 2011-Winter 2012) most hosts welcomed me warmly, opened there houses to me and offered me useful information, and company. I met some of their friends, and had the priviliged to see the city through there eyes.
with some I keep in touch through facebook.
There were also situations in which my hosts were busy but still kind enough to be trustful and helpful.
This kind of situations are just fine as I am an independent person and can explore around by myself.

While hosting in Tel aviv I try to show my guests parts of the city they may not found for themselves in a short stay.

I choose who is the person I am making contact with and sending a personal request.
I usually read most of the profile (if its not very long;)

Música, películas y libros

Two of my favorites directors are Federico Fellinni and David Lynch.
others worth mentioning- Stanley Kubrick, Paul Thomas Anderson, The Cohen Brothers, Pedro Almodóvar, Ingmar Bergman, Luchino Visconti, Aki Kaurismäki, Lars von trier. Jean-Luc Godard.
and I'm still making an effort to see a good movie in the cinema!

About music: well, music is so essential in my everyday life routine.
I'm really open minded to almost any sort of music.
I like Latin music as well (mostly Cuban), Electronic music, Hip Hop sometimes, Rock, Indie etc.

I love Jazz and Blues. there were periods in my life when i listened mostly to it.

Some musicians that I love : Tom Waits ! David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, P.J.Harvey, Bjork, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Nina Simon, Jacques Brel, Caetano Veloso.
I listen to classic music as well sometimes, preferably in live performance.

For books I need to be in a special mood. the last book I recently read and liked was- Berlin Alexanderplatz- a novel by Alfred Döblin. I love Fernando Pesssoa, im just amazed and inspired by his writing.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Witnessing the amazing big blue whale in Ecuador(1998).
The Baobab trees in Africa (when??hmm)

Exploring Iceland!(2011) Cuba! many years ago (2000), loved to explore Belarus for a month, Albania for 40days. India omg, and i can continue...

Portugal! (Autumn 2017) I explored this beautiful country for 2 month, south to north. fell in love. will get back there..

Enseña, aprende, comparte

When someone ask me to teach them photography I just let them notice things that have potential of being a good photo relating to the light at a specific moment, how you arrange things in your frame etc. there are no rules of course.
it is best to teach it while observing pictures.

I would be happy if locals will share with me knowledge regarding interesting locations/districts in their city. alternative hidden spots, interesting neighborhoods etc.
If we both feel comfortable sometime there are beautiful moments of opening/sharing about way of thinking and ways of living life.
I can teach you some word in Hebrew
Shalom. Sababa. Toda. Lehaim :) for start.
