About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel to learn from others and about others in order to learn to know myself

ABOUT ME

I love travelling and I want to go everywhere! I Love trying new things, learning about different cultures, customs and meeting new people. I also have a great interest for languages, so I appreciate any chance I get to practice and improve my skills. I'm an optimistic and cheerful person who loves to laugh, share and listen. Through meeting people from other cultures you learn so much, not just about that culture, but also about yourself.

PHILOSOPHY

"The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
- Saint Augustine -
"Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar".
- Antonio Machado -
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
"Always look on the bright side of life"

Don't worry about the past or the future, and try living in the present. Enjoy the simple things in life and focus on the positive in all things, in all situations. Learn both form positive and negative experiences and remember that without any of these you would be a different person. Forget the "should have.."; "¡El 'hubiera' no existe!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I created my profile in the summer of 2010 when my boyfriend and I were backpacking in Mexico. Th summer og 2011, we went with the EuroRail pass through Europe and stayed with CS's much of the time. In 2012, we travelled through South America for six months, also living the Couchsurfing experience. All the CoushSurfers we've encountered have been incredible and inspiring people, always helpful and open to both sharing and learning. Living in Guadalajara, I had the opportunity to return the favour and host CSr's. This is something I really enjoyed as I got to meet people form around the world although I was not moving around. I hope to continue encountering CouchSurfers both travelling and hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I truly appreciate the CS community and how it connects travellers. It really facilitates the sharing of cultures and experiences. Everywhere we have stayed, we have gotten excellent advice and information which have made our exploring of the surroundings so fun and easy! I feel the manner in which we experienced places was more authentic since we spent time with one or several locals. I also really enjoyed being the hostess; it is great to have an excuse to keep rediscovering all the great things in the place you live!

Music, Movies, and Books

What I chose to listen to depends on my mood or what I am doing. Some genres and artists I like include:latino (veeery wide category, I know!) Calle 13, Maná, Los Cafres, Cafe Tacuba, but also classical music, movie sound tracks, 70s rock (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Black Sabbath - the list goes on!). When it comes to movies, I usually prefer the ones with a solid story to tell, based on a true story, an historical event or simply a well written script. (The Gladiator, Braveheart, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Inseption, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, Amélie..) The criteria for movies pretty much go for reading too. I like to learn something from what I read.(Aztec Rage, What´s Eating Gilbert Grape, A Fraction of the Whole..) I read to know more about whatever captures my interest at any given moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the grand, famous sights is very exciting but the small details is what makes an experience truly wonderful and memorable. Using all your senses, you fully live in and enjoy the moment; feel the burning sun, listen to the street musicians, smell the fruits in a busy market, taste the local food and appreciate the variation in vegetation, architecture and people.

Among the truly memorable places I have experienced, I would mention La Ciudad Perdida (Colombia), Huacachina (Peru), Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia), Los Cenotes (Yucatan Peninsula) and Casa del Arbol 8Baños, Ecuador) as some favourits.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are constantly developing as humans, and with every encounter we have we are likely to learn something. It is such an enriching experience meeting people willing to share personal experiences and cultural uniqueness. If they in turn are interested in learning about me and my culture, that makes the encounter even greater.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing a good meal and engaging in conversation. Going out or staying in, meeting friends and family. I usually like to cook or in any other way contribute in the home of our host, spending time together and sharing stories and experiences.
