Sobre mí

ABOUT ME

I love to learn about other people's ways of life and thinking, and am always up for trying new things. I'm always cooking and trying out new things and love eating as a way of exploring new places and getting to know people, and find it one of the best parts of traveling (and life at home as well!)

I adore the sea and the mountains and being in nature. Innsbruck is one of the most magical places for spending time in the mountains, and since moving here I have had the joy of learning more about them - from how to find good mushrooms to eat , all the amazing places to go hiking and swimming or sledding, and learning to ski and climb.

I grew up in northern California, studied near Seattle, and then took off for Spain, and then France which turned into Switzerland and then into Austria, where I've now been living for quite a while now.

This is a rather small box to sum it all up, but I'd love to meet and chat about adventures past and future!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had the pleasure to surf with so many wonderful people and meet many different cs communities, which has been amazing! I ended up in charge of a cs cooking group in Geneva, where I really got to feel the cs spirit and found a great community. Not until recently did I have the space to host, but I'm excited now to be able to give back to a community that has given me so much!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had only positive experiences couchsurfing, and am thankful for being able to travel in this way, as I have met so many amazing people, and been able to share so many great experiences. From trying to make a mexican meal for hosts in Palestine while being taught how to dance, to learning how to brew beer in Israel and being welcomed to a family Seder, spontaneous cross-country trains and all-night adventures without a penny in my pocket, the couchsurfing mentality and community are really something that I would not wish to live without!

As I've gotten so much out of couchsurfing while traveling, I'm happy now able to be on the other side too.

Intereses

I love cooking, and baking and not following recipes, sharing culinary experiments, sharing in general, eating good food, drinking good wine (and not so good wine if it is with good people!), meeting new people, talking, painting, printmaking, design, drawing, games, music, photography, exploring, thrift stores, hiking, skiing, swimming outdoors, running, traveling, learning languages, but really just learning in general... Basically anything that requires creativity, or involves either other people or food :)

Algo increíble que he hecho

Seeing a newborn giraffe learn to walk
Swimming in cenotes in the Yucatan
the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia and the generosity and kindness of the people we met along the way - from the meals fed to us despite a language divide to the midnight soccer, to the almost fishing trip.
Meeting the current inhabitants of the apartment in Vienna where my grandmother grew up and then fled during WWII and talking around the table in her childhood home, making new friends and bringing them a little of the history that their walls contained.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I love experimenting in the kitchen, and would love to share that as well as learn more, though if you want a recipe, I probably didn't quite follow one, so it might turn out a little different, but that's the joy of it (most of the time, at least...)!

Also...Innsbruck has so much to offer for people who like the outdoors and I always am happy to give suggestions for hikes or climbing or skiing, or go together if the timing works!

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

Well, obviously I'd be happy to cook something! :) Or just share a bottle of wine or a pot of tea (depending on the day and the mood, of course!) and stories of travel and life.
