About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To love, to be of service, to grow, to be present.

ABOUT ME

Things I LOVE...the company of good friends, laughter, nature, great conversations, being present, good books, film, art, philosophy, music (especially acoustic, live performance), dance, travel, languages, great food & drink, architecture & interior design, cooking, theater, sports, healing arts, metaphysics, quantum mechanics, & horses. I enjoy the beauty of the world in its infinite expressions.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in an infinitely powerful, benevolent, creative intelligence that has many names, (but when named seems to create limitation in people and therefore I prefer not to name it.) Celebrate life!
I enjoy the beauty of the world and the many forms of expression of this beauty. My family and friends are the core of my life and I believe that most things in this world are better when shared.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meeting folks around the world and seeing new places from the local perspective is my continuing goal...I find the best travel experiences are to be had with people who actually live in an area. For me, the connection with the people is as important as the place.
I am most likely to be traveling with my son, Kai(23) and/or possibly my daughter, Alexandra(37) rather than by myself.
I also like to host guests at my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I grew up in the countryside of Oregon. It was near a University town that had a lot of international students, and opportunities to meet interesting people. My parents were always hosting visitors. My grandparents also "knew no strangers." It is a family tradition to be open and helpful to others.

Interests

Great food and sharing it with friends & family.
People who have a sense of humor, and love to laugh.
The Arts. I love listening to live music, prefer acoustic.
I am learning to play piano after 50 years of wanting to!
I'm hoping to get back to playing my harp soon, and to learn Ukulele.
Warm-bloods & draft horses, riding, & hunt-seat,
American Football and many other sports, jets, Nature and weather phenomena.

Music, Movies, and Books

Many genre of film...indie/documentary, TED talks, well written/well edited/original thinking is appreciated. But then there are sentimental favorites too...Love Actually, Strictly Ballroom, The Blind Side, Moonstruck, Mama Mia!, Waitress, A Christmas Story, Sound of Music, Antonietta's Line, Cold Comfort Farm, Avatar, Lord of the Rings, Iron Man, Zero Effect, Foyle's War, Shirley Valentine, Brad Pitt...endless really.
In terms of books...Manhood for Amateurs was fun, & Home Game for a bit of male perspective on parenting. Just read Katherine the Great...(long but informative), the Hunger Games Trilogy (quick, easy read) & Making Babies by Anne Enright...funny. Parenting & Education are big topics of interest for me.
I've been reading Biographies of late, trying to learn from the experiences of others. I read The Wishing Year (Noelle Oxenhandler)awhile back, and LOVED it!
I enjoyed Kathleen Dean Moore's essays on nature & family too...Riverwalking is particularly awesome.
I enjoy a wide range of music, prefer acoustic, but rock is good...Eagles, Elton, Beatles, etc. Dancing is wonderful too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh my gosh...everything in this world is rather miraculous, don't you think? Oregon is an amazing state--in terms of climate/landscape...But in terms of experience, I think SYNCHRONICITY is pretty cool--how these amazing connections are made--bringing our attention to how infinitely unlikely they are, and yet they have just happened! Always remaining as OPEN as possible to the new, breathing in & releasing freely...

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook, am interested in many esoteric subjects as well as science and language...my family call me "the breathing dictionary" though I'm really not that stuffy or literate! Ha! I just love shades of meaning and such.
Really love conversations with women of all sorts and ages...my grown daughter and her friends are really fun. But I especially enjoy women near my age and beyond...so much wisdom to partake of!
