About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm just enjoying life before settling down. Not that it's going to ever happen, by the looks of things.

ABOUT ME

I like to experience new environments, mix things a bit, change. Being a tourist is not enough for me, I want to experience everything from within, not just a visitor.

Started out rather mainstream for an Israeli: school, military service, then uni, then a job. At some point decided to move myself to Europe, found a job in Austria (while hardly being able to speak German - something I always found amusing), spent 6 years there, travelled Europe in all means possible (still wish I did more), learned a lot about a lot, mainly myself. Then moved to the UK for a little while, then back to Israel.

I've been working in IT, my profession, for about 10 years. What can I say? Not always that interesting, and work can be challenging. Or not. On the plus side it gives you many opportunities and the pay was not bad at all.

Different circumstances, some of them quite bad, have made me completely change direction and I'm back in university now, studying evolutionary biology and 'freelancing' in other departments as well. For example, I have been hanging with archaeology students lately and now considering joining a dig or two in the summer. Miles away from any computer!

During all of that I've discovered nature photography and it's become an all consuming hobby. It's amazing how much frustration and how much joy I can get from it.

Not so sure what the future holds for me. I've learnt that things may change very quickly and unexpectedly. Settling down doesn't seem an option for now. I'm enjoying my studies so much, I'm considering continuing for Phd. Who knows.

Despite being somewhat shy, I like meeting new people from different cultures, have a drink, have a laugh.

PHILOSOPHY

Live your dream now. You won't get another chance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to gatherings and also met some people for a drink. I haven't hosted myself but a good friend of mine (who I met in one of those CS meetings) does and I've helped her entertain her guests from time to time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a great time meeting some wonderful CSs in the US just recently. They really made my trip. Right now in London, went to a CS meeting last night and the adventure goes on!
