About Me

Currently traveling my way round North Island New Zealand.

I have a huge variety of interests but I aim to make my life all about having as much fun as possible. My main passion in live is surfing, but mostly I just want to see what the world has to offer and enjoy life.

Traveling wise I'm a relative novice, but I want to do more, mostly to score good waves and good weather, and meet good people.

I really, really enjoy being outdoors, love a good barbecue when the weather is good or even a cold rainy walk when afterwards you can stick the fire on, wrap up and get cozy. I spend about half my life in the water trying to catch waves and the rest of the time in a car hunting for them....

Mostly though I'm a pretty laid back kind of person, who's passionate about the environment and helping to improve the world through science, whilst having an amazing time travelling, surfing and having adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the concept, it's like hitchhiking with houses. I like showing people my part of the world and really enjoy meeting new people and being shown around.

I've hosted loads of amazing people and been able to help them on their travels, show them great things and have even hosted folks until they've managed to get themselves set up with a flat of their own.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Anything from Blues, Rock, Indie, Electro, Reggae, Folk, World, Dub, Hip Hop and on and on.

Don't really care for genres, as long as it pleases my ears I'm happy.

Movies - City of God, The Departed, Brick, Monty Python, The Harder They Come, Fantastic Mr Fox, Let The Right One In, WIthnail and I, Spinal tap, The Endless Summer, trollhunter.

Again with movies, I don't really have a specific genre, if it's good I like it.

Books - 1984, Perfume, Terry Pratchet, Brace New World, Catch 22, Animal Farm, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Raw Shark Texts, Cats Cradle, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Stuart a Life Backwards, Dune, Foundation, Do androids dream of electric sheep, lots of science fiction. Same goes with music and movies, anything that's good really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent three weeks cycling from one end of the outer-hebrides to the other (Barra Head to Butt of Lewis) with a surfboard attatched to my bike. The weather was incredible, surfed with porpoises, camped with sea eagles flying overhead, met some brilliant people and just had an amazing time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know lot's of random facts, pretty good for a pub quiz.
Can teach you a lot about surfing.
Won't shut up about surfing to be honest.
I know all sorts about science, ask away.
I could teach you to juggle, or maybe a little guitar or ukulele?

I love to learn new skills so teach away!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be happy to cook something up. I'm a very practical person so could help with any projects/gardening/diy work that needs done. I like to chat about life the universe and everything and hopefully will be able to make someone laugh with a crap joke or two.
