About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I am a northern California transplant currently residing in New York by way of Los Angeles. I am spending 2016 apprenticing on an organic, mixed vegetable production farm in the Hudson Valley.

I am not able to host couchsurfers at this time. But for those visiting NYC, a suggestion: Go to a NYC couchsurfing meetup -- they are great for meeting fellow travelers and potential hosts if you are still looking for a couch while you are here!

Some of my NYC favorites:
*The Highline
*The Cloisters
*Prospect Park
*Valentino Pier in Red Hook (where you can also eat key lime pie!)
*Transmitter Park in Greenpoint (small, beautiful park overlooking the water...and close to great eateries like River Styx and Paulie Gee's)
*Jacob Riis beach at Fort Tilden
*BAM for movies and concerts
*The Brooklyn Museum
*MoMA PS1
*Brooklyn Bridge Park
*McNally Jackson (my favorite bookstore in Soho)
*Ample Hills Creamery (the best ice cream...ever)
*Pioneer Works Center for Art + Innovation (exhibitions)

PHILOSOPHY

Open mind, open heart.
Live simply, travel often.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love meeting, interacting and connecting with new people -- and what a perk to get to know locals and make new friends when I travel to places I'm visiting for the first time.

I attend CS meetings whenever possible. I've been to CS meetups in Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm and here in NYC.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience with couchsurfing was in Spain where a couple of friends and I couchsurfed in Granada, Sevilla and Barcelona.

My boyfriend and I went on a road trip around the U.S. a few summers ago. We mostly camped along the way but also couchsurfed in Austin, New Orleans, Marfa and Santa Fe.

Two summers ago we walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (del Norte) and traveled around Europe. Before and after walking the Camino, we surfed with folks in France, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Belgium.

Last summer, I couchsurfed in Berlin (with a friend/host who I met last summer), Copenhagen and Stockholm.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Howled at a very bright, full super moon while soaking in a natural hot springs bath overlooking the Pacific ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

"We sit like individual pumpkins in a vast field, aglow with our vow. Yet we are connected by a common vine that sustains our shared life even when we forget our connections to one another."
-- "Gardening at the Dragon's Gate" by Wendy Johnson
