CURRENT MISSION

To host and be hosted, to meet people to inspire and let them inspire me, and maybe share a few beers along the way.
My lovely fiance Megan and I completed a journey that carried us from South East Asia to Central and Eastern Europe to Australia from 2015-2017. We used couchsurfing and use helpx.net in order to travel more locally, authentically, and without relying on a Lonely Planet for all of our ideas.

We typically have Sunday, monday and Tuesdays off and prefer hosting those days. Also, we do not allow for surfers to be home when we are not. During the times we are working or out of the apartment you will need to find something to do to keep you occupied OUTSIDE of the apartment.

ABOUT ME

I find it difficult to write these "about me sections". I learn something new about myself everyday. Hopefully you catch me on the days I've learned something positive!

Quickly: I saved $ in college and traveled Africa slowly, staying in small villages, and introducing them to basketball by constructing hoops and teaching fundamentals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We participate by hosting travelers and trying to show them a more local side of Denver; That way they receive a much different experience than those who stay in a hotel and ask a concierge for recommendations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted 5+ groups/individuals while I was living near Cape Town in 2010. Made a few life long friends and got me hooked!
Megan and I have since hosted in our hometown of Denver, Colorado since 2012. As well as, surfed along the East Coast of the USA in places like Philly, NYC (Queens), DC, Baltimore etc. Most recently we've surfed throughout SE Asia, Europe, and Australia.
Brian also used couchsurfing to secure month long stays in remote villiages in Africa in which I completed my basketball project

Interests

Music, reading, movies, photography, hiking, hammocks, boat rides, frisbee, beach bumming, basketball, softball, craft beer, cheap wine, cheese tasting, deep conversation.

Movies: Godfather, into the wild, big fish, true romance, anything by tarentio or starring denzel, lots of docs...
Music: lyrical hip hop, lupe fiasco, common sense, the roots, prince, hova, ween, white stripes, nas, rapheal sadiq, mars volta, bob's (dylan, marley), arcade fire, lcd soundsystem, stevie wonder, ray charles, the list goes on and on and on!
Books: strictly nonfiction, i dont have time for fantasy, I want to learn about the past and incorporate those lessons into our lives.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*Brian moved to South Africa right out of college in an attempt to finally break out of the dreaded "comfort zone"
*Started a basketballl nonprofit aimed at rural African communites in East Africa
*Quit our jobs to travel for 2 years:)
*Refurbished basketball courts in Pearl Lagoon, Nicaragua
*Swimming with Whale sharks in Oslob, Phillipines
*Cliff jumping in the Philippines
*Gave a mud bath to elephants in Chang Mai, Thailand
*Soaked in a Beer Jacuzzi in Czech Republic
*Watched the sunrise over Ankor Wat
*Camped overlooking the Nile river
*Road tripping around Australia
